Erik Thorvaldsson (950 – c. 1003), known as Erik the Red was a Norwegian Viking, remembered in medieval and Icelandic saga sources as having founded the first Norse settlement in Greenland. The Icelandic tradition indicates that he was born in the Jæren district of Rogaland, Norway, as the son of Þorvald Ásvaldsson, he therefore also appears, patronymically, as Erik Thorvaldsson (Eiríkr Þorvaldsson). On his death bed, Ferdinand said to his son "you will be rich in land and in many good vassals, more than any other king in Christendom." Alfonso X was one of the great cultural promoters of the Middle Age. In one of his books “Las Siete Partidas”, enhanced the four values every sword should bear: Good Sense, Strength, Prudence and Justice.Ferdinand was buried in the Cathedral of Seville by his son, Alfonso X. His tomb is inscribed in four languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Latin, and an early version of Castilian. Abu Abdallah Muhammad XII (c. 1460 - c. 1533), known to the Castilians as Boabdil, was the twenty-second and last Nasrid ruler of Granada in Iberia. Son of Abu l-Hasan Ali, sultan of the Emirate of Granada, Muhammad succeeded him in 1482 Muhammad XII soon after sought to gain prestige by invading Castile. He was taken prisoner at Lucena in 1483. Meanwhile, his father returned to power and then in 1485, his uncle Muhammed XIII, also known as Abdullah ez Zagal. He only obtained his freedom and support to recover his throne in 1487 by consenting to hold Granada as a tributary kingdom under the Catholic monarchs and not to intervene in the Siege of Málaga (1487), in which Málaga was taken by the Christians.
