The Cruciform Dagger has a carefully designed 3 1/2" long Stiletto blade and a 1/2" thick cruciform cross section that tapers to a needle like point. Gurkha Kukri Plus

The Kukri blade, with its markedly downward curved blade, has long been identified with the Gurkha Warriors of Nepal, the ferocious mercenaries who have wielded this blade for over 150 years in the service of the British Empire. The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Talwar

For over a century, most of the Western world has remained convinced that a point-oriented, thrusting sword is superior to an edge-oriented cutting sword. There are, however, a series of books by D.A. Kinsley that cast a sceptical light on this running debate. Kinsley recounts numerous incidents (collected form battlefields throughout the British Empire) where cutting swords proved equal, if not superior, to thrusting swords in deciding the outcome of a skirmish. Cold Steel’s president, Lynn C. Thompson was encouraged by Mr. Kinsley's ideas and after considering all the evidence decided to produce one of the best cutting swords ever devised: The Indian Talwar. Cold Steel has addressed this problem and created a utility knife that’s all about strength. And, it’s affordably priced! Chinesisches Leaf Gim Sword

The Chinese Leaf Gim is considered a civilian weapon. It is not well purposed for the rigors of battle, where it could be opposed by much larger and heavier weapons. Viking Sword

The typical Viking sword of the 9th and 10th centuries featured a long wide blade with a broad central fuller and two keen edges. The preferred stroke was a hard slash or chopping blow, so the point was fairly rounded but was just acute enough to be useful for thrusting. A simple guard with forward curving quillions was often utilized and combined with an equally utilitarian wooden handle that was covered with leather, bone, or even cast in brass. What really made the Viking Sword so distinctively recognizable from its contemporaries was its heavy 5 lobed pommel used to balance the long blade. Our sword has features in common with its historical counterpart. It has a double edged blade, hand forged out of high carbon steel and then polished to a brilliant lustre. The wooden handle is covered in leather and is supported by a simple, elegant guard at one end and an equally handsome 5 lobed pommel at the other. LEFT HANDED 1917 HYBRID CUTLASS

Our company President Lynn C Thompson drew upon his vast sword fighting experience to combine the finest attributes of several different swords to make an entirely new, and unbelievably potent new fighting blade that we like to call our Hybrid Cutlass. Lynn has been training with master swordsmen Ron Balicki, Luke LaFontaine and Anthony DeLongis for many years, and ever since the year 2000 they have trained exclusively full-contact with aluminum and steel blades and minimal protection! This incredibly hazardous training has served to not only vastly expand their fighting knowledge but it has kept them honest - taking less unnecessary risks and relying on their skill at arms and the inherent strong suits of their chosen weapons to keep them from harm. Understandably, as this dangerous training regime progressed, the fighters began to favor swords with greater reach, greater fluidity and range of motion, and with greater hand protection! It was during this "sparring out" stage that Lynn began to customize and improvise with his most favored swords - the 1904 Austrian Saber and the 1917 Cutlass. The Saber provided almost unparalleled hand protection with minimal bulk but it favored fighting from horseback, whereas the Cutlass was an excellent tool for fighting on foot, lightweight, maneuverable but still more than capable of opposing bigger weapons. By combining the best features of these two swords Lynn began to create the first design evolution of the Hybrid Cutlass - a truly modern fighting sword. The Hybrid Cutlass features a short, stiff, razor sharp and beautifully blued blade which is both fast and fluid in the hand. It's perfectly designed guard has a sturdy reinforced rolled edge for added strength and hand protection while still being small enough to lie comfortably at your side without ever being cumbersome or unwieldy. Outdoorsman Lite

As a nod to the great success of the Pendleton Lite Hunter, Cold Steel has decided to make more economical versions of their popular Tanto and Outdoorsman knives. These resemble their more expensive versions in that they feature similar blades, guards, handles, and pommels. The only significant change was the use of slightly thinner 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel blades, and the implementation of less costly materials in the handles. The handles are made in two parts. They feature a Polypropylene guard, pommel, and core section, which totally envelopes the full tang. The advantage of the sword point over the edge became increasingly evident by the end of the 16th century. The Rapier, with its long, elegantly thin profile, which emphasized its point, became the popular choice in civilian self-defense. It was however, a somewhat unwieldy weapon especially when it was used in narrow, crowded streets and alleyways. Eventually a more sophisticated, shorter and lighter version emerged that by the end of the 17th century had evolved into an entirely new weapon, the Small Sword. Civilians carried it for as long as swords remained an integral part of fashionable dress. Its primary advantage was its stiff, lightweight blade which was forged in a triangular cross section. It was a highly lethal weapon, ideal for thrusting, and hung conveniently from a sash, baldric, or belt. 1917 Hybrid Cutlass

Cold Steels company President Lynn C Thompson drew upon his vast sword fighting experience to combine the finest attributes of several different swords to make an entirely new, and unbelievably potent new fighting blade that they like to call the Hybrid Cutlass. Lynn has been training with master swordsmen Ron Balicki, Luke LaFontaine and Anthony DeLongis for many years, and ever since the year 2000 they have trained exclusively full-contact with aluminum and steel blades and minimal protection! This incredibly hazardous training has served to not only vastly expand their fighting knowledge but it has kept them honest - taking less unnecessary risks and relying on their skill at arms and the inherent strong suits of their chosen weapons to keep them from harm. Understandably, as this dangerous training regime progressed, the fighters began to favor swords with greater reach, greater fluidity and range of motion, and with greater hand protection! The Habaki (blade collar), is hand made out of polished brass and each hilt is covered in Same (ray skin) and tightly wrapped in the traditional style with black cord. Cavalier Rapier

By the mid-1600’s dueling was at the height of its popularity. In fact, this trend for settling affairs of honor with steel reached such heights that King Louis XIII of France outlawed dueling for fear of losing too many of his important dignitaries to this dangerous pursuit! Aristocratic noblemen saw it as their manly duty to defend their honor at sword-point, and as such began not only seeking out the knowledge and training imparted by specialist sword masters, but also exploring new types of weapon to help them gain a decisive edge. One particular sword began to gain popularity - a smaller, lighter and faster version of the Rapier that was easier to carry and quicker in combat. A precursor to what would eventually become the Smallsword referred to by many simply as the “transitional rapier”. Cold Steel’s interpretation of this blade (which we have named the Cavalier Rapier) features a sharp double edged and needle tipped blade which is decidedly shorter and lighter than a classic Rapier, allowing for much more speed and agility. Woodsman's Sax

Did you know that the name of the Saxon race was derived from the knife they carried? Its true the Sax knife was so important in their daily lives that an entire people became known by it. So, what was so special about this knife that it endured from the from the 6th to the 12th century? The answer is, it was easy and cheap to make and incredibly versatile and effective. Usually found without a guard, with a simple wood or bone hilt it offered a long wide, thick blade with a straight edge and a sloping point (easy to forge). This made it just about ideal as it chopped, sliced, hacked, whittled and carved and was no slouch in a fight as the weight forward balance of the blade and sloping point made ferocious chopping and thrusting strokes effortless. Over the years we have become quite enamored with the history and work potential of the sax so we decided to make a simple version we call the Woodsman’s Sax. Like some historical saxes that have survived, the Woodsman’s features a stout 11” long blade with the characteristic sloping point and an unadorned wooden handle made from exotic imported hardwood. Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson has been exploring the potential of the Kukri for over two decades. It's hard to find a more versatile knife. A stalwart ally in a tight spot and an indispensable survival tool, a good Kukri is truly apocalypse proof! When he chose to design a new Kukri Lynn looked to his many hours fighting in Cold Steel's training facility for inspiration. However, if you want to be a master at sword fighting you have to eventually start fighting with a "live blade". Trail Master Fixed Blade Knife

The broad clip point of the blade of the Trail Master is extremely resistant to bending or breaking. This is largely due to the fact that the tip is actually thicker near the point than what is seen on competitor's knives. This, however, does not mean that the point is dull or blunt. On the contrary, the point is almost needle sharp and offers tremendous penetration. Plus, the blade-back is equipped with a slightly concave false edge that measures approximately three and a half inches long. Kobun

The new Kobun from Cold Steel with an overall length of approx. 24 cm and a blade length of 14 cm is made from Japanese AUS 8A Stainless steel. A Tek Lok compatible Secure Ex Sheath is within the scope of supply. The Kobun® is a lightweight Tanto styled boot knife. It takes its namesake from the Japanese martial or underworld where the word "Kobun" means "soldier". It's a fitting name for a knife like the Kobun®, which was effectively designed to be "a good soldier". In profile it closely resembles Cold Steel´s Master Tanto, but it sports a thinner blade, and that supports its main function; to be a light weight boot knife. Like Cold Steel´s Tantos, it features the Tanto styled reinforced point. This contrasts sharply with most boot knives on the market today which are notorious for their paper thin points which are easily broken or bent. The best of the world's sword fighters have known a simple truth for ages... if you want to become a reasonably good sword fighter you should endeavour to learn sword fighting techniques, footwork and the basic stances. However, if you want to be a master at sword fighting you have to eventually start fighting with a "live blade". If your ultimate goal is to wield a razor sharp sword safely and effectively, you need to train with a sword that approximates the size, feel and heft of a live blade, yet minimizes the possibility of causing grievous, permanent, or life-threatening injury to yourself or your training partner. This concept was implemented by the ancient Romans, who used dull wooden swords to train their Gladiators and soldiers. And Japanese Samurai used a wooden training sword that was called a Bokken. It is an elegant solution to a vexing problem and effective enough to still be used today. The only problem is that a wooden sword can rot, crack, chip or splinter and eventually become useless. Cold Steel's solution to these dilemmas was to design a synthetic substitute, low in price and impervious to the elements. The Cold Steel line of Training Swords are made of heaviest grade polypropylene available and closely duplicate a real sword in length, size, weight and feel. While they're not quite as rigid as wood, they have the winning advantages of being virtually unbreakable, remarkably stiff and cut resistant.
