The Kukri blade, with its markedly downward curved blade, has long been identified with the Gurkha Warriors of Nepal, the ferocious mercenaries who have wielded this blade for over 150 years in the service of the British Empire. The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompson’s close association with Dr. Maung Gyi, chief instructor of the American Bando Association, and a renowned martial artist with wide-ranging knowledge and skills. The issue most people have with a utility knife is weakness. Weak locking mechanisms, thin brittle blades, and an inability to do hard work. Cold Steel has addressed this problem and created a utility knife that’s all about strength. And, it’s affordably priced! The Click-N-Cut, (patent pending) features elements that are based on our extremely strong, Tri-Ad® lock, so it’s built for strenuous cutting chores. It comes complete with three interchangeable blades. There is a drop point blade and serrated and plain edged versions of our utility blade. The blades are double the thickness of most blades on the market, so they can stand up to the most strenuous cutting, scoring, scraping and gouging tasks you can imagine. Exchanging a blade is easy. The handle has a lock bar release, similar to the release on a folding knife. When the lock bar is pressed the blade slides easily out. Drop Forged Bowie Knife

This addition to our Drop Forged line of knives has total length of 14 inches and features a 9 ½ inch blade, it shares many of the same attributes of the other knives in the series, including the same robust construction, being forged as a single piece of steel, giving it a startling amount of strength. But, unlike the other Drop Forged knives, it has distinctive faux stag slabs incorporated into the handle. The blade is flat ground to a moderately thin edge and is then honed to razor sharpness. Hungarian Saber

Hungary by virtue of its position on the world map is a country that straddles the cultural influence of both the East and the West. This influence is, of course, directly echoed in Hungarian weapons. The Hungarian Saber is primarily a cutting, slashing weapon mostly used from horseback although thrusting with it on foot was not unknown. The blade of our saber is made from 1055 high carbon steel with a hard spring temper. It has a hatchet point making it wider at the tip or point than at the guard. The guard of our saber has very wide sturdy quillons. The wider quillons offer greater protection to the hand and forearm. Our new improved Japanese Training Swords are closely modeled after our world-famous Warrior series swords. Featuring an intricately detailed imitation cord wrap grip - molded in high impact polypropylene - they offer superior grip and comfort as well as more realistic training potential for the modern Martial Artist. Hundreds of years ago, the Japanese discovered a simple truth; that to become a good swordsman you'll have to practice, a great deal. To become a great swordsman you’ll have to practice with a "live blade". And during the period between "good" and "great", you should spend your time building your skills and confidence enough to wield a razor sharp Katana safely and effectively. To accomplish this, the Japanese relied on a simple wooden sword called a "bokken" for much of their training. It was made from the super tough wood of the Japanese White Oak, a wood they called Kashi. The new Ribbed Shell Swept Hilt Rapier from Cold Steel with an overall length of approx 128 cm. This rapier is made from 1055 Carbon steel. A leather scabbard with steel fittings is within the scope of supply. According to most historians the Rapier first appeared on the sword scene in the late 14th century and held sway in most of Europe until the late 16th century except in Spain where it endured clear into the 18th century. The reason for its long reign as the civilian weapon of choice for self-defense and duelling can be tied to its two major advantages. First its long, slim, double edged blade was ideal for delivering point oriented blows at a great distance while still being able to deliver a stinging cut. And secondly, its continually evolving hilt of rings, bars, quillions, shells and eventually, an intricately chiseled cup offered excellent protection (especially now that the armoured gauntlet had been abandoned) and shed, caught or deflected blows at the sword hand and forearm with great aplomb. This changed at the close of the 1940´s, when the Communists took control of mainland China, forcing many Kung Fu masters to flee the oppressive regime and establish new schools elsewhere. Pocket Bushman

The new Pocket Bushman is small enough to carry it with you everywhere you go. True, it may be physically impossible for any folding knife to ever match the strength and rigidity of a fixed blade. However, the Pocket Bushman, with its new lock, is close to hitting the mark. The blade is long and wide with a short, sharp, clip point for usefulness and versatility. In addition it is hollow ground from top to bottom with just enough belly to be useful for all sorts of tasks. The handle is made from one piece of steel. A single sheet of stainless steel is folded in half to form a housing for the closed blade, as well as supplying the enormous strength and rigidity required to compliment the Ram Safe lock. This lock features a unique, self adjusting ram that moves forward as the knife is opened and wedges itself tightly between the tang cut away we call the "shelf" and the "U" shaped "roof" of the handle. It´s powered by a strong compression spring that urges the ram forward and makes for an incredibly strong lock up. Positive pressure on the lock generated by heavy cutting or chopping strokes is distributed through the blade, then the blade tang shoulder and finally directly into the mono block handle that acts like a giant unbreakable stop pin. The era of the long sword spanned almost three centuries (approximately 1350 to 1650). This, undoubtedly, was because it really worked! It featured a distinctive cruciform hilt and a long, double edged blade and was equally adept at opposing both light and heavily armored foes. You see, its extra long blade offered the reach and leverage for powerful stabbing, cutting and chopping strokes while its long cross guard and heavy pommel were useful for hooking, striking and smashing. When heavy plate armour was encountered, blows with the edge were marginally effective and were often abandoned in favour of a "Half-Swording" technique; where one hand grips the hilt and the other the blade to better direct the point in powerful jabs, and to more accurately thrust at the small gaps and joints present in a suit of armour. Having read S.M. Sterling's "Change" series of science fiction novels about a world that loses 600 years of technological evolution overnight (an event called "The Change") at least a dozen times each, has left the President of Cold Steel, Lynn C. Thompson, quite taken with the many virtues of the Long Sword and inspired him to make a Cold Steel variation. It's a fitting name for a knife like the Kobun, which was effectively designed to be "a good soldier".
