Basilard Dagger: "Basilard" term arrives from its origin Basel in Switzerland. Basilard is one for the earliest form of European Daggers. Our copy is based on the origin kept at Metropolitan Museum and is of 14th Century. An identical example is also pictured and described in " A Record of European Armour and Arms" by Sir Guy Francis Laking, in volume III at page 10, plate 748. This dagger which was in the collection of Sir Guy Francis Laking and is described as having been found in Germany near Frankfurt am Main and is dated by Mr. Laking as early 15th C. Great helmet C.1300, Size M

This helmet is based off of the great helmet of Sir Richard Pembridge, who died in 1375. The origin is now in the collection of the tiol Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh. The crosses at the bottom of the helmet in the front were used as attachment points for chains. These helped to prevent the helmet from being dislodged if it was struck by a lance. This was a common style in the 14th century. Another well known example is the helmet of Edward the Black Prince, who faought alongside Sir Richard at the battle of Poiters, France, in 1356. It was worn over a cerveliere' and mail coif. This item is supplied with a well padded linen liner sewn into the inside of the helmet. It is constructed from 2mm steel. A common helmet used throughout he Viking era, Spangenhelmets are characterized by their construction, whereby steel strips called spangen, are used to join together steel plates thus creating the helmet. Our models represent types that were used from the 5th to 12th century. Crafted from two welded halves of 1.6mm (16 guage) steel.
