First and foremost, a rescue tool must meet one central requirement: in an emergency and stressful situation, it must be quick, easy and reliable to use. The technically best solution to meet this requirement is a construction with an automatic thrust blade (OTF, short for Out-of-The-Front) with a robustly constructed and carefully crafted mechanism. This poses a legal challenge for manufacturers in Germany, because according to the German Weapons Act, OTF knives are initially prohibited (WaffG §1 Paragraph 4 in conjunction with Annex 1 Section 1 Subsection 2.1.1). For the rescue tool Boker Plus Kalashnikov Rescue OTF, however, there is now a notice of assessment from the Federal Criminal Police Office, which negates the weapon and prohibition properties of this tool due to the shape of the blade. (File number SO13-5164.01-Z-543) Possession and even carrying of this tool in public (in Germany) is permitted spring out or slide back completely into the handle.The heart of the rescue tool is a classic jumping mechanism with thumb slide, which allows the blade to spring out powerfully when activated or to slide back completely into the handle. Timeless engineering combined with experienced history! Inspired by a true classic of the air, Boker Plus presents the ME 109 Damascus as a collector's knife with exceptional character. Based on the Messerschmitt BF-109 (often referred to as ME-109), the knife incorporates the material, shape and colour of the fighter plane from the 1930s and thus creates almost a replica of its historical model.Between 1935 and 1945, some 34,000 examples of the low-wing aircraft were launched, making it one of the most frequently built military aircraft in the world to this day. The special features of the Messerschmitt ME 109 are its all-metal construction of fuselage and wings, the retractable landing gear and the closed cockpit. These achievements were considered groundbreaking at the time, giving the German Air Force strategic advantages in air combat. The special design made higher loads possible, which allowed higher speeds, dizzying altitudes and aggressive turning and evasive manoeuvres. The massive V12 Daimler Benz engine produced around 1000 hp, depending on the model series, and enabled top speeds of 560 km/h and more. The single-engine propeller plane was armed with two MG-17 machine guns (calibre 7.92 mm) above the engine and two MG-FF machine guns (calibre 20 mm) on the wings.It was not least the unmistakable lines of the Messerschmitt ME 109 that prompted Boker's development department to undertake this exciting project. The challenge was to transfer the design language and performance of the fighter plane to a knife without sacrificing elegance and practicality. The heart of the Boker Plus ME 109 is its striking damascus blade, which was forged by none other than the damascus virtuoso Chad Nichols. The steel used for it comes from the salvaged wreckage of a Messerschmitt ME 109 Type E (Emil), which was shot down by the Royal Air Force near Ashford in the county of Kent during the Battle of Britain. Parts of the armour and crankshaft provide the ideal basis for the production of a high-strength Damascus steel. The wave-like "wave-pool" pattern of the 80-layer damascus is reminiscent of wake turbulences, the often visible air turbulence behind flying aircraft. In the side view, the drop-point blade has some visual reminiscences of the historic fighter plane. The rear part of the blade is designed as a cockpit, which has been beautifully realised by partially raising the back of the blade as well as specific recesses and jimpings. These properties of the powder-metallurgical carbon steel were achieved, among other things, by a precisely adjusted chromium content of 7.5%. In this way, the positive properties of the alloying element Cr, such as the increase in wear resistance and hardenability, could be utilised while maintaining a fine microstructure. The universal wide drop-point blade with a high-set saber grind has always been the hunter's preferred shape for both big and small game and is also suitable for both fine tasks such as stick feathering and for the more coarse, such as the obligatory batoning. The tang is continuous and protrudes a few millimetres from the end of the handle. This ensures maximum stability and the tang can also withstand powerful blows with a log or other object. A short part of the back of the blade forms sharp 90° edges on both sides for striking sparks from the included firestarter. TPE - thermoplastic elastomer - was chosen as the handle material, which completely encloses the tang and has a structure that provides a good grip in any loading direction. TPE is resistant, elastic, non-slip and has low heat conductivity. The knife therefore lies securely in the hand in all weather and working conditions and does not drain the strength from the fingers in wet and cold conditions. Compared to conventional elastomers, TPE also has the advantage of reducing the burden on the environment during production, as this is carried out purely physically and the lengthy and energy-consuming vulcanisation of chemically cross-linked elastomers is not necessary.The knife is equipped with a quiver leather sheath - the supreme discipline in sheath construction - with a deep and firm fit of the knife. The knife is thus protected in the best possible way against both loss and damage when carried, without requiring a damage-prone lock that makes quick access difficult. A removable dangler allows for either a high carrying position on the belt or a low position under the hip belt of the touring backpack. Many of them are ordinary cars, while others are exclusively chosen. The Chevrolet Camaro was originally designed as a so-called Pony Car, which was intended to appeal primarily to younger buyer groups. Compact, sporty and affordable - the coupé was the stalwart for the semi-strong. Success was not long in coming. From 1966 to 1969, approximately 700,000 Camaro models with 12 different engine variants rolled off the production line. In 1969, the last Camaro of the first generation, the Z28, was introduced. Connoisseurs consider this model to be one of the best of all series. A massive V8 small block engine with 216 kW (290 hp) and a Special Performance Package propelled the Camaro Z28 into the select league of muscle cars, sporty stripes on the body included. The motorsport DNA of the now coveted collector's item cannot be denied either. With the classically elegant Boker MG-42 Damascus Dagger, the crown of historical Boker Damascus steel projects is provided with yet another jewel. The MG-42 is one of the internationally renowned milestones in weapons technology, thanks above all to its revolutionary production technology at the time with the consistent use of stamped sheet metal parts, exceptional reliability and ease of use, and a cadence that was previously unknown.Raw materials and production time had increasingly become critical and decisive factors in the course of the war. Therefore, the Army Ordnance Office was looking for a successor to the MG-34, which was already convincing in its function, but took up too much time and material due to its complex production. The new MG was also to serve as a standardised weapon for light, anti-aircraft, airborne and aperture purposes. Since the central task was not to improve the product but to optimise the manufacturing process, a proven specialist in mass production rather than a weapons expert was commissioned with the new design. The choice fell on Werner Gruner, a mechanical engineer at the Johannes Großfuß metal and lacquerware factory. Gruner was presumably assisted in the development by experienced gun designers. The consistent use of sheet metal stampings instead of milled parts and the omission of accurateness in non-functional details made it possible to build a weapon that was even more reliable than its predecessor, while significantly reducing production time and costs. Almost trouble-free function and firing accuracy in all weather conditions, the change of hot-shot barrels within seconds and a cadence of 1,500 rounds per minute (25 rounds/second) established the MG-42's reputation. A brake in the form of additional mass in the breech cavity made it possible to reduce the immense cadence to 700 rounds/minute and thus the ammunition consumption. A roller shutter controlled by a cam made these impressive technical characteristics possible. In a slightly modified form, the MG-42 is still the standard MG of the German armed forces today as MG 3. Rare originals from the Second World War fetch between USD 40,000 and USD 60,000 at Rock Island Auctions.The steel of the MG-42 is forged by our long-time and experienced partner Chad Nicols into the heart of the dagger, the double-edged blade with a discreet hollow groove on both sides.
