Wave Wakizashi (No Bo-hi) Square Tsuba

The Wave style Wakizashi is a custom offering from Bugei. The use of Swedish powdered steel and sophisticated forging and heat treating results in outstanding quality and performance. Strength, edge holding, and beauty have all been significantly enhanced by the use of this steel The blade evidences a gunome style hamon and a dramatic ayasugi-hada with mokume and masame. Also available on this sword is bo-hi ( a groove in the shinogi ji the length of the blade). The Wave style Wakizashi is available with or without bo-hi. The Wave style is available (with pre-order) in several different color combinations of saya and tsuka-ito. With this sword you also have a choice of nagasa (length of blade) and length of tsuka so that you can custom fit the sword to your requirements.The steel tusba has an engraved nami (wave) pattern as does the fuchi and kashira. The nakago (tang) is 10 inches long and secured with two mekugi (holding pins) to ensure strength, safety and longevity of use. Golden Flower Wakizashi

The Golden Flower Wakizashi features an extraordinarily beautiful tsuba which certainly has been made by a grand master in the 18th century. As these did not sign their work in contrary to the blade smiths, the creator is not known by name. The tsuba has been intricately decorated with golden cherry blossoms (sakura). The cherry blossom is one of the most important symbols in Japanese culture. It stands for beauty, departure and the transience of life. The wakizashi has a handforged blade made of carbon steel with a fine hamon and has been tempered traditionally. In addition, the steel of the blade has been folded 12 times, that means about 8000 layers have been created which give the sword a beautiful damascus pattern. The sharp blade features a hi (fuller) to reduce the total weight. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, has been coated with real fish skin and features two menukis. In addition it has been traditionally wrapped in black cotton. The tang is especially long and fixed with two bamboo pegs (mekugi). The scabbard (saya) is made of wood and the blade collar (habaki) is made of brass. This wakizashi has been made according to original museum exhibitions. The sword comes with a certificate of origin, wrapped in cloth and packed in a high-quality wooden box. All measures are subject to estimation. The blade of the Kaeru wakizashi is hand-forged and folded from powder steel, with a medium-length (chu) kissaki. The saya is deeply lacquered in black. High quality ray skin (same) is used on the tsuka. The tsuka-ito is made of premium dark blue Japanese cotton. The tsuba is crafted in blackened iron, with detailing in gold and silver and a frog on lily pad scene decoration. The silk sageo compliments the theme of the Frog and is elegently woven in dark blue and moss green. In medieval Japan the “katana” was symbol of peace, power and order but when in the wrong hands could be used for chaos, death and destruction. Our Sea Wave Katana and Wakizashi from Dragon King embody similar dualities in their existence.The placid blue saya conceals a rippling folded steel blade featuring bo-hi (groove) collared by a silver hibaki and notched seppa. The return of a classic pairing .. our Tiger Wakizashi from Hanwei is nostalgic reissue of the original folded steel katana made in the early 2000s. The specifications are painstakingly reproduced for accurancy. The K120C powder steel blade is differentially tempered with a traditional claying method to the grain patter (hada) showing distinct layers.
