English 15th Century Long Sword, Royal Armouries Collection
This is a reproduction of an early 15th century knightly longsword, believed to have been found in the River Thames before finding its way into the Tower of London collection. Dating to around 1400-1430, this is the sort of hand-and-a-half sword that was often carried by knights and men-at-arms, and it features a two-handed hilt with scent-stopper pommel. The stiff and acutely-tapered blade ends in a robust but slender point. This sword was used in one or two hands, depending on circumstance, and in armored combat the blade could also be gripped in halfswording, to better drive the point into the gaps of an armored opponent, and also to use the crossguard and pommel for wrestling and striking. This is exactly the type of sword that many English knights would have carried at the Battle of Agincourt. The blade of this sword has three transitions, from a hollow ground blunt ricasso next to the guard, to a hexagonal cross-section and finally to the flattened diamond section point. This sword strikes with authority, despite the narrow appearance. This is due to the surprisingly thick spine for most of the length of the blade, making it very stiff, and ideally suited to halfswording and thrusting into things like mail voiders at the armpits of an enemy knight’s armor. A relatively nimble sword, but with more blade presence than you might expect. This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by a skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution. The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features a traditional cut-out. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock. Windlass Classic Wax and polishing cloth are included. Specifications: Overall: 46-1/2" Blade: 36-1/2", double edge Guard: 10-3/18" wide Blade width at ricasso 1-3/4" Blade is distally tapered: 5/16" thick at guard, 13/64" at tip Wt: 3 lb, 6 oz.

Maintz Pattern Gladius
The Roman Army´s approach to warfare was direct and pragmatic. It chose the Gladius as its principal sidearm because it was practical and efficient and excelled in any close combat situation. The early Gladius (our version is the Maintz pattern) was wasp waisted with a long point that combined cutting power and stabbing ability in one handy weapon. Later versions (we offer you the Pompeii) were not waisted and had a shorter point but were just as effective - and easier to make. Both swords served side-by-side for many years and it was not uncommon to find 4th century legionnaires carrying the earlier model. This is the sword that conquered most of the known world. Its blade is made of high carbon steel. The Maintz Pattern Gladius also features a faux ivory grip and ornate brass applications on the scabbard. Details: Total length: 28" Blade size: 19 1/2" long, 2 1/4" wide Weight: 2 lbs. 6 oz.

Signature Series - Sword of Roven
Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! Some of our all-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts® with several upgrades! The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. Despite having several names - War Sword, Great Sword, Long Sword and even Two-Hand Sword (thus causing some confusion among collectors) - the large sword was quite a popular weapon. This sword has great length giving it both reach and power. As the length increased the velocity increased substantially. However, with the addition of the long ricasso, the sword became even more formidable. The ricasso allowed the sword to be gripped past the guard, thus shortening the sword and allowing it to be used as short spear. This made a thrust more solid since the blade is held securely at two separate points. Our version of this sword is as formidable weapon as the originals. The Sword of Roven has a high carbon steel blade tempered to a tough spring, the grip is cord-wrapped wood wrapped with brownish black leather, and the pommel and guard are steel. Comes complete with leather scabbard. This is an interesting sword type that belongs in all collections of swords. SPECIFICATIONS: Overall: 47-3/4" Blade Length: 37-3/4" Blade Width: 1-13/16" Blade Thickness: 5/32" Blade Distal Taper: 3/32" Point of Balance: 6-11/16” from guard. British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Saber
Designed by Major-General John Gaspard Le Marchant, the 1796 pattern light cavalry saber was based on Central and Eastern European hussar swords. As a young captain, he observed the clumsy design of the heavy, overly long 1788 Pattern swords. Le Marchant opined that the "blades of the Turks, Mamelukes, Moors, and Hungarians (were) preferable to any other." He gave the blade of this saber a pronounced curve, which made it more adept at cavalry attack methods, and designed it with a widened tip that affected the balance, but made slashes far more brutal. It was issued primarily to British light dragoons and hussars and was also used by the King's German Legion light cavalry during the Napoleonic Wars. The blade profile became so popular that the Prussians and other German states emulated its design throughout the 19th century. This exact replica of an original antique weighs only 1 lb, 12 oz, and the blade features an extreme distal taper, enabling it to feel exceptionally lively. A full 5/8" thick at the hilt, and tapers to a super thin 1/64", 1" from the tip. Irish Medieval Sword - Heritage Series
Introducing the Heritage Series Classic Medieval Cutting Sword by Windlass! Windlass Steelcrafts® has reintroduced some of our all-time favorites with several upgrades! Circa 16th Century The Irish not only developed whiskey, they also developed one of the most distinctive hilt designs of the medieval era. The unique pommel is comprised of a steel ring with the rounded tang tip extended through it, and the guard is arguably more unique. The quillons are gracefully curved into an "S" shape and the guard is gracefully flared, suggesting fins or flippers. Irish geography afforded familiarity with the sea, so our feverish imagination suggests that they were inspired by a mermaid sighting or two (remember the whiskey)? The blade is deeply fullered to lighten the sword without diminishing its strength. This is the quick, powerful sword that enhanced the Irish reputation as being superb fighting men. The leather that covers the grip and scabbard is dyed a very deep green that it looks almost black in dim light. The scabbard features a metal locket and chape with tastefully ornate cut-outs. Hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts. Details: Overall Length: 39-5/32" Blade Length: 32-7/8" Blade Width: 1-31/32" Blade Thickness: 5/32" Weight: 2 lbs / 1 oz Distal Taper: 3/32" Blade Material: 1075 High Carbon Steel Point of Balance: 6-1/2" from guard

Bar Mace
Circa 1300 The remains of a mace of this type were found in the River Thames, but they were in use all across Europe. Made from four bars of steel with a wood and leather grip and a large steel pommel to help balance it, this is indeed an awesome weapon. Grosse Messer Sword - BattleCry Collection
Grosse is German for great and messer is German for knife. That’s essentially what this sword is, a Great Knife. Unlike typical swords, this two-handed weapon is constructed like a knife, with a single-edged blade and a full tang with riveted scales for the grip. First appearing in the late 1440s, messer-hilted arms were also used in other European nations, with local or regional names. Examples have been discovered in the Netherlands and Northern France, Iceland, Sweden, and the Baltic Nations, in the central European nations of Poland, Czechia, Hungary, and Romania, and to the south of Germany in Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, and northern parts of the Balkan nations. This is a devastating chopping weapon, but the keen clip point can poke some serious holes. The fuller is extra broad to lighten the blade. The hilt features a wide, straight guard that flares slightly at the ends. To protect the hand, a nagel protrudes from the right side of the cross-guard perpendicular to the flat of the blade. The ebony-stained wood scales are secured with heavy-duty rivets. The 1065 high carbon steel has a darkened, battle-hardened finish, so it’s well protected from the frequent rust spots and stains that occur so often from everyday practice and exposure to the elements. The blade has a full tang and is tempered to a low 50s RC. This pre-sharpened blade has gone through rigorous testing. The hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes this line unique. Includes a certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process. Also includes "Battlecry" sticker. It includes a top-quality, genuine leather scabbard with metal throat and chape. SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 40-3/4" Blade Length: 31-11/16" Blade Width: 1-13/64" Point of Balance: 4-15/16" from guard Grip Length: 7-3/8" Weight: 3 lbs 11.2 oz Material: 1065 High Carbon

Gladiator Maximus Sword
The prototype of this breathtaking sword comes from the epic blockbuster, "Gladiator," directed by Ridley Scott and awarded several Oscars. Actor Russel Crow wields this sword in his role as General Maximus Decimus Meridius. At 76 cm long, this sword of tempered carbon steel is very long for a weapon from this era. To this end, Maximus' sword cannot be classed with the gladius style widely in use at the time, but is rather an early version of the longer spatha. Whereas the grip design does indeed align with the Roman gladius with its lathe-turned imitation ivory and the half spherical cross guard. The latter as well as the pommel are made of beautifully grained wood with a red brown varnish and have typical Roman brass ornaments. This decoration continues in the brass details on the scabbard. The leather of the scabbard and matching sword belt are in the same red brown tone as the wooden elements of the grip. • Total length: 97 cm • Blade length: 76 cm • Grip length: 10.6 cm • Weight: 1.3 kg • Blade thickness (base): 4.3 mm • Blade thickness (CoP): 4.4 mm • Blade width (base): 5 cm • Blade width (base): 5 cm • Point of Balance (PoB): 14.7 cm • Center of Percussion (CoP): 27.5 cm

Signature Series - Erbach Sword
Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! Some of our all-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts® with several upgrades! The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. This sword rests in the German Schloss Erbach Armoury and is a fine example of a high medieval/renaissance sword (classified as an Oakeshott type XVIII A). This is truly a beautiful example of a bastard sword, effective in the cut and the thrust. The steel parts are highly decorative and the high carbon steel blade is lightly hollow ground, giving the sword a great feel with one or two hands. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. The leather grip and scabbard are brownish black. Original can be seen in Records Of The Medieval Sword by Ewart Oakeshott. 16th Century Italian Cinquedea - Royal Armouries Collection
The cinquedea was a characteristic type of Italian broad-bladed short sword or large dagger, with this example in the Royal Armouries having a longer blade, dating to around 1500-1530. While Cinquedea were often carried as civilian sidearms, and some examples were highly decorated, this example is relatively plain and workmanlike, and could have been carried as a military sidearm by someone like an infantryman or gunner. The impressively broad blade of 26 inches has a complex transition from three down to two fullers, with a thin and distally tapered cross-section which make this a very light and fast weapon for the size. Our replica has faithfully copied all aspects of the form and statistics, the most interesting of which is the unique hilt construction. The ingenious and iconic guard design is fabricated of various components welded together, as in the original. The heel of the blade actually extends completely through the guard and is riveted to it (see photos). The blade heel and rivet heads are then ground flush with the guard and the whole assembly is polished. This method provides exceptional strength and durability. The blade also has a full profile tang, with hardwood grip scales and decorative brass filigree inlaid rivets. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Object Number IX.148. Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 31-11/16" Blade Length: 25-7/8" Blade Width at Ricasso: 3-11/32" Blade Distal Taper: 3/32" Weight: 2 lbs, 3 oz Material: 1075 high carbon steel Edge: Double-edged with bevels, unsharpened Balance Point: 4-5/8" from guard

English or French Single-Edged Arming Sword, Royal Armouries Collection
An unusual single-edged arming sword of the mid-15th century, reputedly from the Castillon group of swords found in a nearby river and purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1984. Over 80 swords, as well as other weapons, were reputedly recovered from this one archaeological find, but this sword is without direct comparison in that group, having a distinctive hilt and very unusual single-edged blade. At first sight it looks like a regular double-edged arming sword with a central tip, but on closer inspection it has a single-edged blade, of wedge cross-section, having a false edge on the back of the blade near the tip. The blade is remarkably wide and thin, with a very acute edge geometry leading to a fine edge, sharing some physical similarities with other single-edged swords such as falchions. The crossguard quillons end in curled tips to retain an opponent’s blade, the asymmetrical grip is located towards the back edge, and the squat scent stopper pommel makes the short grip comfortable to hold. This sword could have been carried by any professional soldier of the late Hundred Years War, from a well-equipped archer to a man-at-arms or knight, or indeed as a civilian sidearm, perhaps with a buckler. Swords with comparable hilt forms are shown in art until the end of the 15th century. This sword feels very nimble, and it is deceptively light compared to its width, due to the thinness of the blade and distal taper. While it could thrust effectively against unarmored targets, it seems to be optimized for cutting, the tip being broader and the blade more flexible than a typical arming sword of the time. This replica is crafted with a better blade than the original; the blade is hand forged by an experienced, skilled blacksmith exactly in the same manner as the original, but with superior modern 1080 high carbon steel that is fully tempered and is distally tapered for proper weight distribution. The sheath is made to replicate one of the period, with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity. Windlass Classic Wax and polishing cloth are included. Specifications: Overall: 93,98 cm Blade: 79,37 cm Wt: 1,33 kg

French Napoleonic 1801 Cuirassier Sword
Despite the waning effectiveness of plate armor against the increasing proficiency of firearms, the French cavalry in Napoleon’s army still wore cuirasses - Medieval-style breast and back plates - with mixed success. They were mildly useful for deflecting long-range musket and pistol fire (we emphasize “mildly”), but when combined with an ornate, gorgon-headed helmet that featured plumes and horse-tail hair, the Cuirassier’s battle dress created quite an imposing figure as he charged into the fray. Surviving accounts from British opponents attest to the petrifying spectacle of compact groups of Cuirassiers emerging from behind the French front lines. This is his sword; the French Model 1801 Cuirassier’s sword is a heavy cavalry saber with a straight blade, as the French favored the thrust over slashing or cutting. This replica weighs a little over 3 lbs, the substantial mass needed to accomplish a lance-type thrusting attack. The distally tapered blade is over 1/4” thick at the hilt and is double-fullered like the originals. Brass guard and pommel. Leather-wrapped grip with twisted wire wrap. Steel scabbard. SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 109.22 cm Blade Length: 95.25 cm Blade Width: 3.49 cm Blade Thickness: 0.71 cm thick at hilt, 0,31 cm thick 2.54 cm from tip Blade Material: 1075 High Carbon Steel Weight: 1.44 kg

Towton Schwert - Signature Series
Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! Some of our all-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts® with several upgrades! The blade has improved distal taper, making the sword livelier and quicker. The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior. The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip. When it's dry, the cord is removed and the leather is left attractively indented and provides improved texture and grip. In the winter of 1461, the yet uncrowned Edward IV marched a large Yorkist (the white rose of the “War Of The Roses”) army northward to attack the Lancastrian forces (the red rose) of the legitimate King Henry VI. Although they launched an attack on the Lancastrians’ strong position on an uphill slope at Towton, the Yorkist forces were aided by a blinding snow storm at their backs; the Yorkist archers were able to kill at a range that the Lancastrian arrows were unable to match. The 20,000 royalists charged downhill into their tormentors. The next six hours witnessed thousands fall in one of the bloodiest battles ever to take place on English soil. We have named this sword for that fearsome battle. The blade tapers to an excellent stabbing point and is fullered for most of its length for lightning speed. On foot it could be used with two hands, delivering terrible cuts and thrusts. From horseback its perfect balance and weight still allowed for one-hand blows of equal devastation. Truly a joy to hold, the long graceful pommel, wood and leather grip are nicely complimented by the elegant curves of the crossguard. Flexible and well-tempered, this is sure to become one of your new favorites. Scabbard included. Ulfberht Sword
An old legend has it that a Nordic smith named Ulfberht developed the first all steel blade. This crucial development achieved near-mythical status among warriors, making this one of the most important swords in the study of medieval weapons. Several of these blades from slightly different time periods exist, some engraved in gratitude and reference with Ulfberht's hallowed name. Prior to the Ulfberht swords, all European swords were of the pattern welded variety. Soft iron bars were welded together with strips of steel, forged into a blade shape, then a steel edge was welded onto the sword. But, the Ulfberht sword was a quantum leap in both technology and design. Not strips, but good carbon steel blades with enough carbon content to produce excellent swords. Not only was the material better, but the design of the sword was a definite improvement. The blade tapered more sharply to the point than did previous blades. This put the balance of the sword closer to the hand, making a sword that was faster on both the stroke and recovery than previous blades. The engravings on both sides of the blade were photocopied exactly. The blade is made of high carbon steel and is beautifully balanced. The grip is wood wrapped with leather. The stout crossguard is steel, and the pommel is of the brazil nut shape that was quite popular at the time, both with Vikings and the rest of Europe. A beautiful and important sword. A scabbard is included. Details Total length 90,81 cm Blade length 76,84 cm Blade width 5,4 cm Weight 1,3 kg

Bosworth Long Sword - Battlecry Collection
This medieval Bosworth Longsword is from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection. Designed specifically to be used and made from 1065 high carbon steel with a darkened, battle-hardened finish, extra wide tang and tempering to a low 50's RC. This pre-sharpened blade has gone through rigorous testing. The hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes this line unique. Includes a matching scabbard with belt stop, custom packaging and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process. The longsword was a central weapon of the Science of Defence and an indispensable part of the chivalric art of arms for centuries. This sword is no exception. A beautifully proportioned weapon with dynamic handling qualities, it is a harmony of mass and dimension. With a long, semi-tapered diamond cross-section fitted to a round ergonomic pommel on a double-handed grip, this is a fine example of the perfection that was achieved in this popular design. Against any opposing arms or armor it was capable of quick deadly cuts as well as accurate and forceful thrusts. Aptly named for the bloody late 15th-century battle during the War of the Roses, the Bosworth is a fast and capable warsword adeptly able to execute the deadly “Mastercut” techniques so closely associated with double-handed blades of the period. With a slim handle that virtually begs to be gripped in the diverse and effective winding actions that this kind of sword ideally allowed, it features a surprisingly small heft for its size. This ebony-toned “queen of weapons” is perfectly suited to foot-combat in war, judicial duel or knightly challenge. This is a substantial and graceful weapon that will leave the wielder every confidence it could readily defend life if called upon. Discover with it just why this form of longsword was respected for centuries and celebrated against whatever it encountered. English or French 15th Century Two-Handed Sword, Royal Armouries Collection
One of the more graceful big swords in existence. This is a replica of a mid-15th century two-handed sword, or great sword, example IX.1787 in the Royal Armouries flabbergasting collection of edged weapons. This sword is believed to have been excavated in France, near the site of the Battle of Castillon. It was purchased by the Royal Armouries in 1978 and is part of an important archaeological grouping of over eighty Castillon-associated swords discovered in the river nearby. This sword is believed to be part of a distinct English style of two-handed swords, though given its provenance it could also be French. It is proportioned very much like a typical hand-and-a-half sword of the time, but entirely scaled up to an imposing size. Featuring a fish-tail pommel, straight guard with swollen terminals, and double-edged blade having a flattened-diamond cross-section. The blade is a versatile cut and thrust type. Two-handed swords of this type were being used increasingly as specialized weapons in the middle and later 15th century, laying the foundations of the massive, sometimes garish two-handed swords of the next century (such as the Swiss Zweihander and the Landsknecht Flamberge) . This sword would have been in use during the last years of the Hundred Years War and swords like it were carried throughout the Wars of the Roses and into the early Tudor era. This is a huge and imposing, even stately sword, but moves surprisingly quickly, due to the hilt length, mass distribution and distal taper. A sword like this would be less of a sidearm and more of a primary contender against things like pollaxes and bills. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features a traditional cut-out. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stockWindlass Classic Wax and polishing cloth are included. Specifications: Overall: 58" Blade: 45" Wt: 4 lb, 10 oz.

Sword of Robert the Bruce
Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, was one of the most famous warriors of his generation, and he eventually led Scotland during the first of the Wars of Scottish Independence alongside William Wallace. He fought successfully during his reign to regain Scotlands place as an independent nation, and he is today remembered in Scotland as a national hero. This heroic sword is as powerful as the man who would have wielded it. The Robert the Bruce Sword is hand forged from high carbon steel. The beautiful pommel emblazons the Cross of St. Andrew, while the hearty grip is wrapped in soft, black leather, held in place by a corded silver chain. The massive Scottish sword comes complete with a matching, thick black leather scabbard and sports a silver Lion of Scotland at its throat and a rounded silver metal shoe at its tip. A belt is attached. 14th Century Hand-and-a-Half Sword - Royal Armouries Collection
An imposingly large hand-and-a-half sword or longsword, probably of the late-14th century. The precise origin of this European sword is unknown, but from the markings it is likely to be German or possibly Italian. It found its way into the Arsenal of Alexandria either as a diplomatic gift, war booty or as a tribute object from the Kingdom of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Egypt, where it was inscribed with Arabic text. From there it made its way into at least one private collection, before subsequently being acquired by the Royal Armouries. This big knightly sword features a broad and powerful Oakeshott Type XVI blade of 38 inches. This is quite a heavy sword by the standards of the day, due to the length and breadth of the blade, but is wonderfully balanced thanks to the distal taper, long grip and large pommel. Similar swords to this can be seen extensively in late-14th and early-15th century art, including manuscripts and also knightly effigies and brasses. Such swords were popular at this time all over Europe, from England to Italy, from Portugal to Poland, and they are featured in a number of contemporary fighting treatises like Fior di Battaglia by Fiore delli Liberi (1410). They were used on foot and mounted, in armour and unarmoured, with one hand or two-handed. This example is an especially powerful cutting weapon and less specialised tothe thrust than some other longswords of the time. Our replica closely matches the original in all aspects of form, measurements and manufacture. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Object Number IX.915. Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 48-5/16" Blade Length: 38" Blade Width at Ricasso: 2-1/8" Blade Distal Taper: 5/32" Weight: 3 lbs, 13 oz Material: 1075 high carbon steel Edge: Double-edged with bevels, unsharpened Balance Point: 3-11/16" from guard

Signature Series - Arbedo Sword
Introducing the Classic Series by Windlass! In Arbedo on June 22, 1422 the famous Milanese cavalry commander Carmagnola, along with Angelo de la Pergola, 6,000 horsemen and 4,000 footmen, attacked an army of 4,000 Swiss pikemen and halberdiers. As the battle raged on, a group of Swiss foragers wandered near the scene. Both Carmagnola and de la Pergola thought the foragers were another army and pulled back, allowing the Swiss to retire in good order. This bloody, rather inconclusive battle left a large percentage of Swiss dead, although Carmagnola's army actually lost more men. We've named this beautiful type XVIIIa war sword after that battle at Arbedo, where either side would have carried it. The effective cutting blade tapers to a sharp, deadly point. The 6" grip allows for one or two hand use. High carbon steel blade. Steel guard and pommel. Grip is wood, wrapped with cord and then covered with red leather. Wide tang construction. Original rests in the Metropolitan Museum and can also be seen in "Records Of The Medieval Sword", pg. 189 by Ewart Oakeshott. Leather scabbard. SPECIFICATIONS: Overall Length: 39-1/2" Blade Length: 30-13/16" Blade Width: 2-3/4" Blade Thickness: 3/16" Blade Distal Taper: 1-16" Point of Balance: 4-1/4" from guard Weights: 3 lbs Blade Material: 1075 High carbon steel

Late 15th Century Arming Sword - Royal Armouries Collection
This arming sword in the Royal Armouries Collection dates to the late-15th century and is likely to be of English provenance. This type of sword is a medium-to-high status sidearm of the late-15th century and into the early 16th century, and would have been worn both with and without armour. It would have been a knightly backup weapon, used in combat both on foot and mounted. This sword shares some obvious similarities with the Westminster Abbey sword, which has been long associated with Henry V (but now believed to be from Henry VII's funeral achievements). It also shares a number of close similarities with other swords from English churches, and from representations of swords on English funeral effigies and brasses. Due to the state of preservation, it has been suggested that this sword may indeed have been taken from an English church monument in past centuries, where it was likely originally deposited in the late-15th century. Our replica is a precise, faithful replica, manufactured traditionally in very similar ways to the original. It features a robust cut and thrust Oakeshott Type XVIII blade of just over 30 inches, long curved quillons with characteristic terminals, short grip and prominent solid wheel pommel. The original has some unusual floral engraving at the base of the blade, which we have not replicated, because unfortunately on the original it is too damaged to reproduce with any certainty. The sheath is made with a wood body and covered with leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass chape that features ornate cut-outs and an acorn tip. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Object Number IX.1426. This gives the arms a greater range of movement while allowing the gambeson to fit a wider range of bodies. This thick quilted gambeson, crafted from thick cotton can be adjusted with leather straps and brass buckles on the front. Its interior is lined with cotton felt. This gambeson is crafted from organic material, which allows the wearer to breathe better. Features an open arm pit design allowing for better mobility and some ventilation.A thick, padded jacket common to Medieval and Renaissance warriors, the Gambeson was a protective layer beneath chain or plate armor - it served both as a shock absorbing layer and chafe protection for its wearer. Poorer combatants and lightly-armored archers and skirmishers might wear only the gambeson as their major piece of body armor.Gambesons first began to be common in the 10th century and were largely intended to be a layer beneath chainmail. By the later years of the Medieval era, it became common for soldiers to wear a substantially thicker gambeson, sometimes called a ‘’padded jack’’, as their main armor. Quilted with many layers of fabric, typically linen, a padded jack could act like a sort of kevlar and give its wearer excellent protection from cuts and slashes. It could even stop arrows in some circumstances. Additional protection could be added to such gambesons with jack-chains, a sort of ‘’partial-plate’’ protection which could stop a strong slash from cutting into the shoulders and arms.

Classic Medieval Cutting Sword - Heritage Series

Französisches Messer M1916 „Avenger“ aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg
Every army needs a close-quarters weapon, even when it has guns because it’s inevitable that somebody’s going to end up within breathing distance of an enemy occasionally. This dagger was often dubbed “Le Vengeur de 1870” (The Avenger of 1870), a wistful reference to the French loss to the Prussian Army in 1870. The design was simple and practical enough to last into WWII.Proving that the sincerest form of flattery is actually thievery, Germany confiscated large quantities of these knives when they defeated France and took them on their roadshow to Norway. Originals now sometimes sell for over $250 on the antique weapons market. The blade design inspired the US M1918 Trench Knife (of course, with the addition of the famous “knuckle” grip). Like the originals, this stout replica has a 6-3/4″ blade and is 11″ overall.Steel scabbard replicates the original. Maldron Viking Sword - Battlecry Collection
The Maldon Viking sword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a light, agile and resilient fighting blade that captures nearly everything that made this style such a formidable and near legendary design. Created to deal with shields, mail and thick fur or leather armor, it was more than a match for any hand-weapon of its day. Its semi-rounded point was capable of forcefully biting into targets without snagging or catching while its well-honed edge, neither too wide nor too narrow, enabled the widest possible array of single-hand combination blows. Its snub-hilt with distinct lobed-pommel gave the wielder a snug grip facilitating a quick center-of-rotation easily manipulated for exceptionally versatile action. With its capacity for delivering rapid single-handed strikes, it was ideal for fighting armed with a shield but also highly effective when matched with a sax or even a hand-axe. This a sword well-suited to any hand. Given a unique shadowed hue, one can well imagine a blade like the Maldon purposely darkened for a Northern nighttime skirmish. Serving a pivotal part in Norse martial heritage, it's easy to see why this style was so feared and so influential. Includes a matching scabbard with belt stop, custom packaging and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process. Holy Roman Empire 14th Century Longsword, Royal Armouries Collection
If this sword looks familiar, it should. This sword is of the same type as the famous sword that most scholars have agreed belonged to Edward IV, the Black Prince. The original, designated as IX.1106 by the Royal Armouries, is a mid-to-late 14th century knightly longsword, found in Lake Constance, where Austria, Germany and Switzerland meet. This sword features a stiff tapered blade, which is double- edged and straight, with an acute tip. It has a hand-and-a-half hilt, which could be used one or two handed, and an imposingly large wheel pommel. This sword is of notably robust proportions overall and is rather heavy (1775g) compared to most longswords of this size, the blade being very thick in the spine for its whole length, and the large pommel counterbalancing it. The blade is of a simple flatted diamond cross-section, but the pommel has some complex and subtle shaping, with the front and back planes uniquely canted inward at the top. This sword would have been used principally by armored men-at-arms and knights, usually one-handed on horseback or two-handed on foot. Swords like this were being used all over Europe in the second half of the 14th century and would have been familiar to fencing masters like Fiore dei Liberi and used at battles like Sempach in 1386. This sword seems quite specialized to armored combat and halfswording (gripping the blade with one hand), due to the notable stiffness and mass of the blade. The edge geometry is quite obtuse, but the blade has a lot of presence in the strike. Equally, the weighty pommel could be used with good effect to strike in close combat. At the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso.Includes a certificate of authenticity on heavy stock.Windlass Classic Wax and polishing cloth are included. Specifications: Overall: 44" Blade: 34-1/2", double edge Guard: 10-1/4" wide Blade width at ricasso 1-3/4" Blade is distally tapered: 7/16" thick at guard, 7/32" at tip Wt: 4 lb, 2 oz.

Pirate Cutlass - Heritage Series
Introducing the Heritage Series Classic Medieval Cutting Sword by Windlass! Windlass Steelcrafts® has reintroduced some of our all-time favorites with several upgrades! Many a bloody-handed pirate of the 17th century clambered over the side of a gold laden galleon armed with a cutlass such as this. Known by many names, "hanger", "cuttoe," and "short saber" by infantry or "cutlass" by sailors, this was an exceedingly popular short weapon. The steel basket protected the hand and could be used as an armored fist in the close confines of shipboard combat. Steel pommel and leather-covered wood handle. Includes leather scabbard with metal locket and chape. The locket has a frog stud and the chape features a skull and crossbones medallion. The leather grip and scabbard are dyed a dark green. Hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts, the high carbon steel blade is factory sharp. Details: Overall Length: 28-1/2" Blade Length: 22-5/8" Blade Width: 1-3/4" Blade Thickness: 5/32" Weight: 2 lbs / 10.5 oz Distal Taper: 1/64" Blade Material: 1075 High Carbon Steel Point of Balance: 3" from guard
