The CORVO is a traditional Chilean Army combat knife. Its origins are misterious: it did probably arrive in the New World with the Spanish Conquistadores, who had already appreciated it during the war against the Moors. MF stands for Medium Folder: a product line positioning itself between the BF (Basic Folder) and the Heavy Folder lines. MF knives employ the LINER-LOCK mechanism and are distinguished for their sturdiness; all are equipped with a glass-breaker. An innovative supplementary screw can be unlocked to enable fine-tuning of the main screw, adjusting opening speed to taste. Hemispheric milling marks on handles make it easier to change from saber-style to reverse grip. Clips are reversible. Model MF0 is “the little one” amongst MF knives – basically a compact version of the MF1. Extrema Ratio developed the first knife of a new production line, called CONTACT.It has a blade with a lance-shaped profile, a flat grinding and a diamond-shaped geometry. It has got a lower guard branch to protect the hand from accidental cuts, upper jumping to improve grip, a concave fuller along the entire length of the blade and a generous thickness blade (6.30mm) All these details make the Contact the elder brother of the now famous Requiem, revisited in proportions and in some technical features. The first of a new line of multipurpose knives.The blade is made in Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical burnishing coating for the Black version. All other colours in production have got a blade with Stone Washed finishing. The handle is still in forprene . It is no more assembled by the side screws but thanks to the shank in truncated cone-shaped stainless steel that is screwed to the bottom and goes to fit inside a special seat, which makes it solid. In this way the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric has been cut off; it has got a 2nd level retention system, remembering the style of the model it was inspired by.The main shell is injection-molded in shockproof nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided into the sheath thanks to its cone shape that lends itself well to the rapid insertion and extraction of the blade. To extract the blade, a pressure on the trigger will be sufficient, thus releasing the safety that holds it securely in the sheath. In the horizontal slits of the sheath a system is added, which fixes the blade to avoid shaking noises when it is stored inside. The back side of the nylon sheath is M.O.L.L.E. compatible.The textile part is reduced to its minimum and has got the classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh band with rubber reinforcement for anti-rotation. Extrema Ratio aims at this new line by minimizing thickness and size of the knife, but not saving on structural strength and safety accessories. A well-motivated classic. The “kukri”, the Nepalese multipurpose tool made famous by the Gurka Regiment, in service of Her Britannic Majesty and derived from the ancient Greek falcate swords, is nothing more than a machete with an advanced cutting edge. This cutting advancement allows it to replicate the functionality of an axe, while maintaining the versatility of the long blade. Extrema Ratio, managing to blend ancient and modern concepts, has created several tools belonging to this category, among which the KH. The blade of this machete has differentiated sharpening. Near the handle the blade is razor sharpened, so as to allow the achievement of a narrow sharpening angle without excessively affecting the thickness of the back material which must remain solid. The sharpening at the end of the blade is flat and well angled so as to penetrate wood and vegetation without difficulty. Usually this type of tool is made of soft steel to be more elastic and easier to sharpen. MK2.1 Desert Warfare

The restyling of a classical, a tribute to a veteran, one of the most distributed and used knives during World War II: MARK 2. It was produced in many versions by historical US knives manufacturers but always following the original specs given by the U.S. NAVY. It is the preferred tool among traditionalists who only trust “battle tested" knives. Throughout the years several manufacturers have tried to restyle this knife with little success. It is in fact the original model which is still favoured in the main catalogues. Extrema Ratio’s aim, in this ambitious project, is to keep the original characteristics while developing only functional changes to increase performance. Cobalt reinforced stainless steel is used for the blade, AISI 303 and AISI 304 are used for the other components. The rounded leather handle has been replaced with a fibre glass reinforced nylon handle. The ergonomics of the original knife has been left intact while all structural parts have been oversized to obtain a sturdy versatile knife. The most important changes have been made to solve the so called “weak spots” of the original version. 1. it is now possible to disassemble the knife in the field without the need of tools; 2. the Bowie shape was straightened for easy sharpening; 3. the grooves in the “barrel” shaped handle help to find proper blade direction even in dark conditions 4. the same grooves improve the grip during twisting movements Other small modifications were to add holes on the back tang to add a lanyard and on the front guard to tie the blade on a pole to be used as a spear. For purely aesthetical reasons the traditional blood groove has been replaced with the typical Extrema Ratio “side groove”. The original knife was perfect and no other modifications were needed. The new Desert Warfare version comes with a special HCS coyote sheath specifically developed for SOF units.
