We forged this shirasaya katana based on a model Higo Munekage from the year 1836.
The blade is forged of T10 steel and features a very intense hamon, which has been visibly polished again after the yokote. The hardness as always is 60/40 HRC and the blade has been very sharply polished.
On the blade there are two narrow hi that form a sword towards the center of the blade and are then interrupted by bonji. The hi then run further into the 8 cm large o-kissaki.
The blade decoration is found on both the ura and omote sides of the katana.
The hamon is very prominent and the blade is very sharp, which make this shirasaya katana the perfect sword to expand your collection.

Now this is our Black Edition Katana and guess what, it’s ALL BLACK.We wanted to come up with an affordable katana for the people who like to do regular cutting. Why is the katana all black you want to know? That’s easy, black is beautiful plus when we were checking the market we saw that there is no such sword on the market which was a good reason to create one.
So we used black tsuka ito on black same wrapped using the style katate-maki or also called battle wrap. Then the fuchi, kashira and tsuba are black. When we thought about the menuki design we asked ourselves, if you want to cut with that katana do you need menuki?
The answer was no, so there are simply no menuki on that sword. The saya is lacquered in black and it’s glossy, pretty usual, sure. The sageo is black and so are the shitodome on the kurigata. And yes, also the habaki is black too.The hamon pattern is very intense and the blade is really sharp to make sure you will have a great cutting experience.
Enjoy!

This is a “Rin´ne” katana from our Shogun class which was folded of 1095 steel, forged and differentially hardened. This created a cutting edge with a 60 on the Rockwell hardness scale, and a blade back that rates a 40 HRC. The blade is sharply polished, features a typical folding structure and has no hi. The tsuka-ito is made of pure, black silk and is attached firmly to the real ray skin.
The steel tsuba of the “Rin´ne” displays blossom motifs and is rounded off with an image of the imperial crest of Japan, also know as the wheel of life, which originates in Buddhism. The kashira and the fuchi show an artistically carved out blossom. The menuki on the other hand are in the form of full grown “long” or Chinese dragons, which is considered the deity of rain and fertility. Our Miyamoto Musashi Katana BoHi is part of the Ronin class and is forged from 1060 steel. The blade has been polished sharply and has a BoHi on it. The blade hardness is 55 HRC and was tested and confirmed in a laboratory in Germany. The ito wrapping is made of black silk and was applied to the real ray skin on the handle. The Tsuba displays a double ring design which is always associated with Miyamoto Musashi. The handle and blade are bound by 2 Mekugi for solid fit of the handle on the tang.
For the fittings we choose simple black iron mountings for the Kashira and Fuchi without any adornment. Just as Musashi dedicated most of his life solely to combat, so the fittings of this Katana should not distract from that which is fundamental. This sword is a reasonably priced basic model intended only for cutting. Now some may say that this design is much too plain. We would like to answer that with a quote for Miyamoto Musashi himself, “Accept everything just the way it is.”

Our dragonfly Katana (Unokubi Zukuri) is part of the Ronin class and is forged of 1060 steel. The blade is sharply polished and forged in the style of Unokubi Zukuri, which was derived from Naginata and later transferred to other weapons like the Katana. The blade form makes the blade lighter because less steel was used, which therefore makes the sword the perfect Katana for cutting.
The blade hardness is 55 HRC and was tested and confirmed in a laboratory in Germany. The ito wrapping was done in black silk and it was applied to the real ray skin on the handle. The handle and blade are bound by 3 Mekugi for a solid fit of the hilt on the tang.
The fittings of the Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira and Menuki are done in black iron and displays the well-known dragonfly theme. In ancient Japan the dragonfly was revered by the Samurai, because it only flew forwards and never back. The dragonfly is considered a sign of determination and courage, and so mirrors the essence of the Samurai existence.
