Tourney Hand-and-a-Half Knightly Sword - Blunt
A close recreation of the famous Oakeshott Type XVIIIa.4 sword from Records of the Medieval Sword with some liberties taken to make it safe for reenactment and stage use. This sword proves to be a powerful sight on the field of battle and is a perfect accompinament for a 14th to mid 15th Century man of war. Our Tourney Series Medieval Sparring Swords from Kingston Arms will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. Features like thru-tang handle construction, peened thru-tang stainless steel pommel and guard, 2mm rounded edge thickness make these brutal weapons on the battle field. The cord wrapped leather grip feels exceptional in the hand with an oval cross section and slight barrel shape to keep fatigue at bay. The grip is large enough to accomodate armoured hands. A respectable fuller runs the length of the blade to lighten and counter balance the sword overall. A wood core and leather wrapped scabbard tipped with a stainless chape comes with each sword. Further Tourney Series models are the Viking Sword and Single-hand Swords. The blade is forged from 9260 high carbon spring steel and is tempered to about 50 Hrc, providing a long lasting sword. Atrim Bastard Sword XVIa.8
Made entirely by Gus Trim in his custom shop in Washington state - this exceptional Bastard Sword features a hand finished Type XVIa blade with a wicked edge. The broad, thin blade tapers to an aggressive point in profile while the complex distal taper keeps the sword moving effortlessly in the cut. Lesser blades would either sacrifice the elegant profile taper or lack distal tapering entirely - creating a heavy wobbly mess of a sword. Further refining the handling are the three fullers - two accent fuller flanking the main fuller running the length of the forte. The grip is lambskin died in Oxblood coloring over a cord wrapped wood grip. The pommel is attached using Gus's superior threaded nut arrangement for a permanent fit. Guard and pommel are blued steel, made individually by Gus and tuned to perfection to each sword design. It is unusual to find such an exceptional example of form, function and lethal beauty. Fencing Side Sword
Designed for safe use in fencing practice, the Renaissance Side Sword provides a realistic fencing simulator to the renaissance period HEMA practitioner. Unique in the time of the primarily piercing oriented rapiers, the side sword kept the cut and thrust aspects of the late medieval arming swords and added the protection of a complex hilt hand guard. This side sword features thick well rounded edges and a rolled tip for greater thrusting safety. However with all fencing swords we suggest affixing a rubber tip blunt or piece of leather strip taped to the tip. This updated sword design provides a stiffer blade, a more robust hand guard and long lasting cord wrapped grip. Key Features: • Safe Fencing Style Blade • Forged Rolled Tip • Reinforced Guard Specifications Overall: 42 1/2" Blade Length: 34 1/2" Handle Length: 5 1/2" Weight: 2lb 13oz Point of Balance: 2 1/2" Blade Steel: 5160 Specs will vary slightly from piece to piece.

Atrim Design Type XIIIa War Sword
Based on Oakeshott's Type XIIIa specification these swords were used in the 12th to early 13th Century in that transitional period from hardened leather to mail with some plate armor protecting vital areas of the body.We spent a lot of time discussing with Gus his methodology for developing what he would call a "performance-oriented" sword. Without getting too deep into it Gus, along with Tinker Pearce, was one of the pioneering sword makers to incorporate the notion of harmonic balance into his sword designs. Informed by historical examples and his own experimentation Gus has been making swords for decades now that seem to float in your hand. For this sword Gus left the aesthetics and materials up to us, it was the design (weight, balance, taper, harmonics) we had to get right. It took several rounds of samples (not to mention a botched first run) but we finally nailed it.Not satisfied with just getting the design right we wanted to push it farther. We had the fundamentals down but chose to take the materials and fit and finish a step ahead. The blade is hand forged mono-tempered 9260 spring steel, flat ground with a handsome satin finish. The fittings are high quality stainless steel exactly matching Gus's design. The grip is a solid wood core, cord-wrapped for strength with a textured leather over-wrap. The scabbard is a solid wood core, with stainless steel chape and stitched leather wrap. Knights Sword - Atrim Design Type XVIII
The first in a series of swords designed by Gus Trim and produced by Kingston Arms to his performance sword specs, this is a beauty of a single hander. This sword features the classic diamond cross section of Oakeshott's Type XVIII specification, typical of the short sword used by knights and men at arms of the 15th Century. The stiff blade and acute point would be used to find the small chinks and exposed gaps in armor at the joints. This took a sword capable of quick movements and accurate point control, far from the club-like swords typically associated with the medieval knight bashing away at plate armor... Not just a thrusting sword though the Type XVIII has a slow tapering curve to the point, making cutting against unarmored opponents quite effective. Atrim Designed Performance Swords We spent a lot of time discussing with Gus his methodology for developing what he would call a "performance-oriented" sword. Swept Hilt Rapier
Our Renaissance-style Rapiers trace their origins to early 17th century Europe, where swordplay with the Rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman’s education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. Blades generally originated in one of the blade making centers such as Toledo or Solingen, but many differences in styling and hilt materials resulted from the local manufacture of hilts all over Europe. The Main Gauche, or left hand dagger, was often used with the rapier, providing an added dimension in both offense and defense, and the “Schools of Fence” which proliferated in Europe during this period taught the use of the two weapons in combination. The Main Gauche would often match the Rapier in styling, while incorporating features which maximized the effectiveness of the piece.Replacement blades, both live and blunt (for sparring), are available for most of the Rapiers and Main Gauches. Cutlass - designed by Angus Trim
We could say that this sword is inspired by a Cutlass housed in a European Museum, dated to late 16th Century and representative of the early Buccaneer Cutlasses used to great effect against the East India Company on the Caribbean Sea. We could say it might have been an earlier German Messer blade, cut down and given a complex hilt to suit the needs of a cutthroat pirate. We could say a lot of things about this sword but the truth is that Gus Trim called us up one day and said .. "Hey, I've got this nice falchion style blade I just stuck onto an old complex hilt I made a while back and tuned it all up with a wheel pommel. I think it's pretty sweet, and I think you will too. Want me to send it your way?" *When Gus asks this question there is only one answer, and that is a resounding yes! Of course he was right and we think you will agree - this is a sweet cutlass. The 25 3/4” blade features 20 1/2” of live edge with an unsharpened false edge on the back. Overall the sword is light and quick which should please the most discerning afficionado. A very detailed embossed leather scabbard in a thistle motif completes this unique sword piece. * - Gus doesn't actually talk like this.
