Bastard Sword antiqued

Our Renaissance-style Rapiers trace their origins to early 17th century Europe, where swordplay with the Rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman’s education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. Blades generally originated in one of the blade making centers such as Toledo or Solingen, but many differences in styling and hilt materials resulted from the local manufacture of hilts all over Europe. The Main Gauche, or left hand dagger, was often used with the rapier, providing an added dimension in both offense and defense, and the “Schools of Fence” which proliferated in Europe during this period taught the use of the two weapons in combination. Great Sword

The Great Sword is a long versatile two-handed blade, developed for powerful cuts and thrusts. Typically used to carve paths through lines of pole-arm soldiers and combat throughout the battlefield ranks. The double-edged straight blade featured a flattened ricasso that allowed the swordsman to choke up on the blade for more control, dexterity and maneuverability for close quarters combat. The parrying hooks at the end of the ricasso kept the user’s hand from slipping onto the blade and catching blades or pole-arm shafts. Designed by CAS founder Barry Ross, the Kingston Arms Great Sword embodies all the attributes a sword aficionado would want in such a piece. At 56 ¼” long and weighing a 5 lbs., our version falls within the parameters found in great swords of the period. The 39 ½” blade has a 5 ½” double grooved ricasso with 1 5/8” parrying hooks and a 14 1/4" blade fuller. The 16” handle features a 12 ¾” leather wrapped grip for easy handling and carrying over the shoulder. The double ringed, stainless-steel guard and pommel are a matte finish. From tip to tip, the guard is 15” wide with tapering 12.5mm thick quillions. Knights Sword - Atrim Design Type XVIII

The first in a series of swords designed by Gus Trim and produced by Kingston Arms to his performance sword specs, this is a beauty of a single hander. This sword features the classic diamond cross section of Oakeshott's Type XVIII specification, typical of the short sword used by knights and men at arms of the 15th Century. The stiff blade and acute point would be used to find the small chinks and exposed gaps in armor at the joints. This took a sword capable of quick movements and accurate point control, far from the club-like swords typically associated with the medieval knight bashing away at plate armor... Not just a thrusting sword though the Type XVIII has a slow tapering curve to the point, making cutting against unarmored opponents quite effective. Atrim Designed Performance Swords We spent a lot of time discussing with Gus his methodology for developing what he would call a "performance-oriented" sword. Without getting too deep into it Gus, along with Tinker Pearce, was one of the pioneering sword makers to incorporate the notion of harmonic balance into his sword designs. Informed by historical examples and his own experimentation Gus has been making swords for decades now that seem to float in your hand. For this sword Gus left the aesthetics and materials up to us, it was the design (weight, balance, taper, harmonics) we had to get right. It took several rounds of samples (not to mention a botched first run) but we finally nailed it. Not satisfied with just getting the design right we wanted to push it farther. We had the fundamentals down but chose to take the materials and fit and finish a step ahead. The blade is hand forged mono-tempered 9260 spring steel, flat ground with a handsome satin finish. The fittings are high quality stainless steel exactly matching Gus's design. The grip is a solid wood core, cord-wrapped for strength with a textured leather over-wrap. Low Lander Two Handed Great Sword

Wielded with untamed ferocity on many a Gaelic battlefield, the massive Lowlander sword vividly illustrates the might of the Scots of old. Kingston Arms proudly presents the first Bollocks Dagger for collectors of Scottish weaponry. The predecessor of the Scottish Dirk, our version reflects the usual shape of feel of those found between 13th and 18th centuries. A common weapon that had a long tenure of use, the Bollocks Dagger was a spare weapon to supplement a sword and lance. The guards were commonly one piece with a wooden grip made from box root (dudgeon) which inspired other names (less humanly anatomical) for the dagger. Our Tourney Series Medieval Sparring Swords from Kingston Arms will set a new standard in this price point of re-enactment weaponry. We could say that this sword is inspired by a Cutlass housed in a European Museum, dated to late 16th Century and representative of the early Buccaneer Cutlasses used to great effect against the East India Company on the Caribbean Sea. We could say it might have been an earlier German Messer blade, cut down and given a complex hilt to suit the needs of a cutthroat pirate.We could say a lot of things about this sword but the truth is that Gus Trim called us up one day and said .. Low Lander Two Handed Great Sword antiqued
