The tachi is one type of
traditionally made Japanese
swords worn by the samurai
class of feudal Japan. The
tachi style of swords preceded
the development of the katana.

In times of war the Tachi, a sword which sheath was fixed with two ribbons on the armor, was used.
At the most a Tanto, a huge dagger, was worn additional.
The japanese sword were originally straight swords, based on chinese and korean role models.
They were usable for stabbing
and designed for infantry. When the warriors changed to horses, they must observe
that the straight blades ofeten broke while pouncing. The changed japanese design of Katana and Tachi with the curved blade was more rigid , but also
more easier to unsheathe.
Especially elaborate forged, with beautiful wrapped handle and varnished sheath.
The blade is made from 1050 steel and is sharpened.
