Taking inspiration from Thai swords in his personal collection and from his extensive training in the Thai Martial Arts, Lynn Thompson began exploring his own interpretation of a Thai sword in Cold Steels Machete format.

Lynn has been an active practitioner of Thai Martial Arts since the early 1980s. Studying Thai Boxing with Bill Berg and the late Ernie Franco before exploring Muay Thai and Krabi Krabong in greater depth with his current training partner and instructor of over 13 years, Ron Balicki.

The Thai Machete represents the culmination of over 4 years of development and refinement. Like the Thai swords that inspired it, the Machete is beautifully balanced, with a keen cutting edge and sharp tip. Though most commonly seen used in pairs when practicing traditional Thai fighting arts, these long curved blades are amazingly versatile. Light enough to swing one handed, but with a long enough handle to employ a two handed grip for extra leverage and cutting power.

The Thai Machetes wide blade and curved cutting edge make it an excellent brush cutter. It slices grass, vines and light foliage with ease. Its fully sharpened blade is made from the same tough 1055 Carbon Steel as the other classic blades in Cold Steels incredibly popular Machete line up. Its tough, traditional looking polypropylene handle has a flattened oval grip that won’t twist or turn in your hand, while its steel reinforced guard offers surprisingly good hand protection.

gute robuste machete in genialer optik, man sollte auch bedenken , das man für den preis keine wunder erwarten darf

Super Optik, gute Verarbeitung und ausreichende Schärfe. Komme aber mit dem Handling nicht so gut klar: für einhändiges Benutzen ist mir der Griff zu lang und mit zwei Händen fühle ich mich von der Bewegungsfreiheit her eingeschränkt. Die Aussparung in der (ordentlichen) Nylonscheide erschwert das herausziehen.

Sehr ansprechende Form und gute Balance. Lediglich der Schliff benötigt gehörig Nacharbeit, aber das ist man von den CS-Macheten ja leider mittlerweile gewöhnt.

Trotz der Länge kann diese Klinge durchaus mit einer Hand geführt werden, für meinen Geschmack könnte die Klinge noch etwas stärker ausfallen aber dann würde wohl die mögliche Einhand-Führung darunter leiden, ansonsten ist aber alles sehr ausgeglichen und gut zu führen, der Griff und die Klinge ist beidhändig sehr gut führbar und macht einen ordentlichen Eindruck für das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Das einzige mit dem ich unzufrieden bin ist die optionale Schärfung, die Klinge wurde leider sehr ungleichmäßig geschärft und ich finde für diesen Preis kann man durchaus eine durchgehen gleichmäßige saubere Arbeit erwarten, in Zukunft spare ich mir die knapp 20 Euro und mache das selbst. Ansonsten ist dieses Cold Steel Produkt durchaus zu empfehlen!

Die Machete ist Top verarbeitet und sehr stabil (Cold Steel Qualität eben), schön schlicht und mit einer guten Grundschärfe ausgestattent. Zum Stahl ist zu sagen das er sehr Wiederstandsfähig ist und sich super nachschärfen lässt, ist allerdings Rostanfällig (also nach div. Ausdünnungsarbeiten Klinge abtrocknen und immer schön Ölen ;). Bei der Scheide gibts auch nichts zu Mäckeln, ebenfalls gut verarbeitet und stabil. Ich finde das Teil jedenfalls Top und geb ne klare Kaufempfehlung.

Die Machete / das Schwert ist nicht nur richtig scharf (hab Sie ohne Schleifservice bestellt) sondern auch was fürs Auge. Man kann die Machete nur auf dem Rücken tragen, was aber ziemlich bequem ist. Außerdem ist das ziehen vom Rücken aus erstaunlich einfach (die Waffe wieder in die Scheide zu kriegen ist schon schwieriger). Insgesamt eine sehr solide und schöne Machete.

Entsprechend dem Vorbild eher ein Schwert als eine Machete. Das Teil kann wegen der Länge des Griffs nicht am Gürtel getragen werden, deshalb der Tragegurt. Sehr handlich, weil relativ leicht und gut ausgewogen. Der Griff wirkt massiv und die Machete insgesamt solide gemacht.
