Product information "Shamshir"
The Shamshir originated in Persia and spread throughout the former Ottoman Empire and beyond into India and even the Philippines. Its strongly curved blade was enduringly popular and absolutely ideal for delivering a devastating cutting stroke. And, contrary to popular belief, it was very effective at delivering rising, descending and hooking style thrusts! Typically, the curved Shamshir blade had a narrow cross section and a sharp point. It had a simple brass or steel crossbar hilt and an equally straightforward handle made from wood or animal horn that terminated in a distinctively bulbous pommel. This pommel was offset slightly to help the hand resist centrifugal force when making a hard cutting stroke. Our version of this historic saber replicates the original as closely as possible. The only modifications were to substitute a modern high carbon steel for the blade and to use black faux buffalo horn for the handle. Even the scabbard is a close copy of the original. It´s made of thick, black leather (so it won´t dull the blade) and reinforced by a brass throat and chape, and comes complete with dual suspension rings.

This is probably the only production scimitar of decent quality, historical shape and sharpened edge on the market today. It is a shame that there are so few Turkish, middle-eastern or Indo-Persian swords out there because I can attest to the splendour of this handy little sabre. Cold Steel's shamshir is a light but blade heavy weapon with a slim profile that seems to be slightly wider through the curve than near the hilt. The overall spine is reasonably thick but rapidly becomes much thinner near the point, which is extremely sharp. The edge is also very well sharpened, which together with the dramatic curve makes for a devastating cutter/slicer of soft objects. The lower 10 centimeters of the blade has been left unsharpened and can be used as a ricasso, which is useful for two reasons. One is that it enables faster strikes, the other that it secures your hand on the grip better than holding the hilt as normal (since it is a bit slippery and has an unusual type of pommel). The scabbard has no slotted opening like many authentic scimitars and therefore requires a small effort to either draw or sheath the sword. In other words, it is impossible for the Shamshir to accidently fall out of its home. The leather and metal fittings look good, but not extraordinary. I recommend this sword to any admirer, backyard cutter or collector.

Long Sjambok
In Africa, the Sjambok (Sham-Bawk) is a cattle prod, a whip, a riding crop and a means of self protection. Unlike most western style whips, the Sjambok is not plaited from thin leather strips. Instead, it is carved whole out of Hippopotamus hide. Its considerable reach, lightning speed and devastating impact have built it quite a reputation as a sure defense against deadly snakes. The Sjambok was adopted by the South African police as a riot control weapon. Because of the large numbers of Sjamboks that were needed, the issue item was made from precision molded black plastic. Give one a try and you´ll see why it has earned its awesome and well deserved reputation. Polish Saber
The latest addition to our line-up of high-performance swords is inspired by examples of early 17th Century Polish Sabers. Used both on horseback and on foot, these battlefield sabers had a fearsome reputation, not least for the skill-at-arms of the Polish Noblemen who wielded them, but also for their phenomenal cutting potential. Our interpretation of this historically significant blade was designed by custom bladesmith Dave Baker, and is made from expertly heat treated Carbon Steel. With a fully sharpened, distal tapered and strongly curved blade, the Polish Saber is capable of delivering exceptional cuts, while still remaining stiff enough for the thrust. Specifications: Blade Length: 15 1/4" Blade Thick: 1/4" Overall Length: 38" Steel: 1055 Carbon Weight: 45.5 oz Handle: 6" Scabbard: Red Leather Scabbard With Steel Fittings This is an item from the Cold Steel program in 2016.

Two handed Danish Sword
Danish Two Handed Sword, Type XVIIIe, Medieval Sword 15th Century (1410-1500) The history of Denmark is filled with tumultuous periods of war and strife, conflicts driven by the same political and religious factors that were widespread throughout Medieval and Post-Medieval Europe. Smaller kingdoms were swallowed up by larger, and larger kingdoms splintered apart. Due to this fairly colorful history, the Danes became known for some distinctive weaponry, of which this Danish Two-Handed battle ready Sword is an example. This medieval sword is classified as an Oakeshott Type XVIIIe, a very unusual member of the Type XVIII group. These two handed danish sword are some of the few that can be safely tied to a specific region. Type XVIIIe medieval swords have been found almost exclusively in Denmark. It is believed however that some examples may actually be German or Italian in origin. The unique and defining characteristic of this type of sword is its unusual narrowed ricasso. It features a long, stiff diamond shaped blade with an extremely long handle, making it suitable for cut and thrust swordplay as many other swords were in the later 15th Century. Light and well balanced, this two handed battle ready sword has excellent cutting and thrusting abilities. Guided and balanced with the decorated globe pommel pommel, the pointed guard can be used as a weapon capable of stabbing under the gorget and helmet, effectively defeating the opponent. The Danish Two handed battle ready sword sword also has a long unsharpened ricasso that can be gripped to shorten up the blade for closer work. This option to fight with the “half sword” makes the Danish Two-Handed Medieval Sword an incredibly versatile weapon. Details: Overall Length: approx. 127 cm Blade Length: approx. 99 cm Blade Width: approx. 3.8 cm HRC: 60, 48-50 at the core Blade Material: 5160 High Carbon Steel Weight: approx. 1333 g Please note: The sword will be delivered only with the scabbard, the "matching belt" is not included but can be ordered for an extra charge.

Early Medieval Single Hand Tinker Pearce Sharp
The Early Medieval Sword is typical of the 13th-14th century single hand swords but the Type XII blade was known to be in use from as early as the late Viking era. This version features a sharp Marquenched spring steel blade. As with all Medieval Tinker models, this sword is dismountable. CAS has commissioned Michael `Tinker` Pearce to design a line of swords that will satisfy both the sparring and cutting needs of Western Martial Arts practitioners. Matching sharp and blunt versions of each sword in the series offer the same outstanding handling characteristics in both disciplines. The swords meet Tinker`s exacting quality requirements and are built in much the same way as his custom pieces. Each blade is forged from 5160 spring steel, Marquenched to the desired hardness of 50-53 HRC while the tang is drawn back to the low 30s HRC. For the Medieval models the very end of the tang is threaded to fit an allen nut recessed into the pommel which allows for dismantling of the hilt assembly for inspection, to exchange blades if needed, and for anyone wanting to easily customize their grip. Also the sharp and blunt blades are interchangeable on all Medieval models. The grips are cord wrapped and leather covered wood and tapered for a comfortable grip. Each sword is supplied with a leather covered wood scabbard with metal throat and chape.

Oyabun
For years we have thought about making a folding knife that closely emulates our famous Tanto. Andrew Demko worked on the problem, and with Lynn Thompson's input, a satisfactory solution was discovered. The result is what we offer here, the Oyabun! It incorporates a reinforced blade point, a high satin polish, expert heat treatment (Rc57 and sub-zero quenched), and the kind of stunningly sharp edge Cold Steel's reputation was founded upon. Furthermore, it is equipped with an integral flipper for effortless opening, and a (patent pending) leaf spring lock and safety. The lock/safety on the Oyabun was first utilized in our Crawford 1 folder and has proved to be quite tough and reliable. The 4034 stainless steel blade is housed in a strong, economical handle that's reinforced with stainless steel liners. The handle is injection molded with a Griv-Ex™ foundation and then over molded with soft, checkered Kray-Ex™ fastened to the frame with two robust bolts. Weight: 4.1 oz Blade Thickness: 3.8mm Handle Length/Material: 4 3/4in Long GRN w/TPR InlayHandle Blade Steel: 4034SS Steel Blade Length: 3 1/2in Overall Length: 8 1/4in This is an item from the Cold Steel program in 2021.

Talwar
For over a century, most of the Western world has remained convinced that a point-oriented, thrusting sword is superior to an edge-oriented cutting sword. There are, however, a series of books by D.A. Kinsley that cast a sceptical light on this running debate. Kinsley recounts numerous incidents (collected form battlefields throughout the British Empire) where cutting swords proved equal, if not superior, to thrusting swords in deciding the outcome of a skirmish. Cold Steel’s president, Lynn C. Thompson was encouraged by Mr. Kinsley's ideas and after considering all the evidence decided to produce one of the best cutting swords ever devised: The Indian Talwar. Taking a cue from the most experienced Indian Swordsmen of the past, and the Pindari chief of old, Amir Khan, Lynn has combined a strongly curved British Light Cavalry blade with its distinctive hatchet point (wider near the tip than the forté) with a traditionally styled Indian hilt. The blade is hand forged from tough 1055 Carbon steel and features a broad fuller and a razor edge. The hilt is equally well made. Fashioned from brass with an intricately decorated surface, it offers short, thick quillons, a single knuckle bow and the traditional dish shaped pommel to lock in your hand. Supplied with an excellent scabbard made of wood covered in black leather and capped at either end with a thick brass throat and chape, the Indian Talwar is a ferociously effective cutting sword that will serve you well on or off the battlefield. Details: Length: 99 cm Blade length: 83.8 cm Weight: 1.3 kg Blade material: 1055 Carbon steel This is an item featured in the Cold Steel programme of 2011.
