The prototype of this breathtaking sword comes from the epic blockbuster, "Gladiator," directed by Ridley Scott and awarded several Oscars. Actor Russel Crow wields this sword in his role as General Maximus Decimus Meridius.At 76 cm long, this sword of tempered carbon steel is very long for a weapon from this era. To this end, Maximus' sword cannot be classed with the gladius style widely in use at the time, but is rather an early version of the longer spatha.
