The Seneschal Sword is a faithful reproduction of a historical European sword from the early 14th century. The original resides in the renowned Musée de l'Armée in Paris and dates from a transitional era of medieval warfare when mail armor was gradually reinforced with additional plate elements.
This sword belongs to Type XIV in the classification system of Ewart Oakeshott and features a relatively short yet broad blade with a powerful thrusting point. Its stiff blade design performs exceptionally well for both cutting and thrusting techniques, while the fuller improves balance and handling.
One of the sword’s most distinctive features is its faceted brass pommel shaped like a sphere, giving the weapon an elegant and noble appearance. Combined with the red grip and matching scabbard, the design evokes the image of a prestigious weapon suited for a high-ranking noble or royal officer—fitting for a sword named after the medieval French title “Seneschal.”
With its authentic proportions and detailed craftsmanship, this sword is an impressive collectible for enthusiasts of medieval weapons and historical reproductions.
