Tatami Omote - basic quality
This mat is made from rice straw and can be used for the traditional japanese cutting test tameshigiri. The mat has a dimension of 180*90 cm. This mat comes single packed in a foil together with a pad of silicon so that the mat wont catch any water during transport or storage. The end of the mat is tied together by some wire which you have to cut of before starting to cut with your blade. This tatami omote is the basic quality. After our experiences in cutting tatami omote during the last years we have decided to offer different qualities of tatami omote. By this we can make sure that each and every cutting customer will be satisfied. The beginner can buy and cut this mat without any problems. The advantages are obvious: - low price - pre rolled, safes time in preparation - soaks water very quickly - easy to cut We recommend this tatami omote to all customers doing tameshigiri for the first time who also want to save time and money but want to cut the traditional way. When you compare the 2 kinds of tatami omote, basic and high quality, then you will quickly realize that the basic quality tatami omote has only half the withstood the high quality has. Or in other words to say, the high quality is twice the hard to cut as the basic quality. The reason for this lies directly in the structure of the omote. The high quality has a much higher density than the basic quality. 1 Mat = 8 EURO If you want to order larger quantities than 200 mats please ask for our offer. Please note: The stand shown is NOT included.

Sword Maintenance Kit
The maintenance kit comes in a wooden box containing powder, oil and paper to clean the blade. This maintenance kit is very useful when it comes to the obligatory sword cleaning. Should you not maintain your sword or maintain it in a improper way, finger prints and other stains will appear on the metal which will be very hard to remove. The Oil is used to prevent the sword from rusting. Your sword is going to rust when it is permanently exposed to humidity. Oil prevents your sword from rusting as it covers the blade and thus seals off the air. As oil dries up after some time it is advisory to apply new oil at least once a month. The powder ball (uchiko) has two functions: it removes the remaining oil on the blade and enhances the blade surface when used in combination with the nuguigami. The cleaning paper (nuguigami) is special, high-quality, thick, Japanese paper. It is used to remove remaining oil from the blade and (in combination with the uchiko) to polish the blade. The brass hammer (mekuginuki) is used to take out the mounting pegs (mekugi) in order to disassemble the sword. The hammer head can be screwed off. Maintenance instructions: Please clean and maintain your sword after each use. It doesn´t matter whether you used it for Iaido training or tameshigiri. Should you not maintain your sword it is going to rust sooner or later. First of all, remove the old, remaining oil from the blade with the nuguigami thoroughly. Be careful to hold the edge away from you. Secondly, use the uchiko and apply the powder to both sided of the blade. Next, wipe away the white powder with the nuguigami. This way you will clean your blade and remove any remaining oil. Repeat this step until the blade is thoroughly clean. In the end, apply fresh oil to the blade with a cloth. Please make sure that both sides of the blade will be covered equally from tip to guard. There should be a thin oil film all over the blade. You should disassemble your sword about every 3 or 4 month to maintain your tang. The blade maintenance guidelines apply for the tang as well. The mekuginuki is not included in this cleaning set!

Bokken
Bokken ("wooden sword") is the Japanese term in kenjutsu for a katana shaped out of wood. Used to train samurai in feudal Japan, it is now used as a training weapon in various Japanese sword arts. Some other martial arts (and all pedants) call it a bokuto ("wooden sword").A suburito is a bokken designed for suburi. Suburi, literally "bare cutting", are solo cutting exercises. Suburito are thicker and heavier than normal bokken so that you have to develop either good technique, strong muscles or both to wield one. Their weight does however tend to make them poorly balanced, consequently they are not used for paired practise.Miyamoto Musashi was famed for his use of the bokken in actual combat. Details: Total length: 98.5 cm Handle: 24.7cm Weight: 0.46 kg including tsuba

Maintenance Kit
The maintainance kit has everything in it which you need for the must of care for your handmade sword. Comes with oil and powder. Oil is used to prevent the rust of the sword. Oil makes a film of the oil between the sword body and the air, and it prevents the oxidization of the sword body. Oil dries in about some time. Therefore, reprint it in the new oil once in a month. The thing which made a whetstone powder-shaped is being packed into the Uchiko. White powder appears from the Uchiko when a sword body is struck with the Uchiko. There are two use purposes. The Uchiko removes the old oil which sticks to the sword body. Furthermore, the Uchiko beautifies the surface of the sword. Nuguigami: The Nuguigami is not just regular paper, it is high quality thick japanese paper for cleaning swords. It is used for wiping out old oil and wiping out the Uchiko. The Mekuginuki is used to remove the Mekugi of the sword. The Mekuginuki can remove the Mekugi with the sharp part. In order to use the Mekuginuki for removing the Mekugi, the hammerhead part can be removed from the rest of the Mekuginuki. How to take care for your sword: How to take care of the sword after an Iaido practices or Tameshigiri will be explained with this topic. Take care of the sword after the practices always. If the care for the sword is neglected, a sword rusts in the sweat of the hand. Face an edge toward the top, and pull out a sword slowly from the sheath. Then, be careful not to damage a sheath. Hold the sword pulled out with your left hand. Then, remove old oil and dust from the sword with the Nuguigami. Put a Nuguigami on the Mune of the sword when wiping the sword, and wipe the sword toward the top from the bottom. Pat a sword body with the Uchiko. Powder equally on the both sides of the sword body. Then, wipe the white powder with the new Nuguigami which is different from the paper used some time ago. Repeat this handle, and remove the blurs of the oil completely. Apply new oil to the sword body, and put away a sword to the sheath. Put the oiling paper on the Mune of the sword when oiling the sword, and oil the sword toward the top from the bottom. Don't oil a sword in quantity very much. Oil equally the both sides of the sword body. If the care for the sword is finished, put a sword in the sword bag, and keep it. Keep a sword in the place where it dries in the shade. How to take care of the sword of this topic isn't perfect. Therefore, remove the hilt once in three months, and care for the tang (Nakago) and so on.
