Product information "M48 Highland Sgian With Sheath"

The M48 Highland Sgian takes the traditional Scottish dagger and gives it a sleek and modern look. This dagger really has a tactical feel to it. It has a 5 1/4" 2Cr13 cast stainless steel blade that has been black oxide coated and has a satin surface grind. The blade has three through holes in it and it goes into a stainless steel guard. The handle is black TPR that is molded to fit comfortably in your hand and it has the traditional M48 logo. A TPU sheath with a polypropylene inner cover is included to house the blade and a double layered nylon strap keeps it firmly in place. This sheath can be strapped on your belt and you are ready to go.

Im Vergleich zu Bökers Grabendolch ist der Sgian eher globig und recht schwer. Nun gut, er lässt sich wohl notfalls auch zum Aufhebeln nutzen, was ich mit dem Böker nicht unbedingt tun würde. Insgesamt liegt er gut in der Hand und zum Werfen wohl auch gut geeignet. Leider hatte die Schneide bereits bei Lieferung einige kleinere Scharten. Die Scheide ist ebenfalls recht klobig und an meinem Exemplar lässt sich der Druckknopf des Sicherungsriemens nur schwer öffnen und erst recht nicht mit nur einer Hand wieder schließen. Meine Enttäuschung gründet sich wohl nicht zuletzt in den Erwartungen, die ich in diesen Dolch gelegt hatte. Jemand, der unvoreingenommen dieses Stück bestellt, mag anders empfinden.

Gladius Trainer

The best of the world's sword fighters have known a simple truth for ages... if you want to become a reasonably good sword fighter you should endeavor to learn sword fighting techniques, footwork and the basic stances. However, if you want to be a master at sword fighting you have to eventually start fighting with a "live blade". If your ultimate goal is to wield a razor sharp sword safely and effectively, you need to train with a sword that approximates the size, feel and heft of a live blade, yet minimizes the possibility of causing grievous, permanent, or life-threatening injury to yourself or your training partner. This concept was implemented by the ancient Romans, who used dull wooden swords to train their Gladiators and soldiers. And Japanese Samurai used a wooden training sword that was called a Bokken. It is an elegant solution to a vexing problem and effective enough to still be used today. The only problem is that a wooden sword can rot, crack, chip or splinter and eventually become useless.
