A piece of history comes alive: The Tirpitz, sister ship of the legendary Bismarck, was the biggest battleship ever built for the German marine. After commission 1941 was the Tirpitz fast the scare of the Allied Marines in WW II in the North Atlantic. Legendary are the numerous trials to immobilize this weapon abounding colossus.
After heavy air raids in September 1944 of the Royal Air Force the Tirpitz was badly damaged and it was introduced as a row in Tromsoe/ Norway. In November 1944 the Royal Air Force capsized this ship with especially “Tallboy bombs”.
Straight after war a Norwegian company exploit the ship to use the alloyed steel for civil purposes. The science was very interested in Tirpitz steel, it was used in research and development of the metrology and astronautics.
Norwegian diver salvaged parts of the special armor for Boker. From this piece of living history the Boker Damascus smith forged this extraordinary Damascus Steel with a fascinating history.
The pattern “Great pyramid” in 300 layers labels this mighty blade of hand-forged Damascus steel and makes this knife to the top of every collection. The combination of Tirpitz steel with tool steels makes a extremely stress-resistant Damascus steel with a HRC of 61 that passes every task of daily work routine. The handle made from high-strength AIMgSi1 aluminium (obvious more high-grade than the ordinary AIMg3 thanks to the high silicon part) is hard-coat anodized and gives a safe grip. The convertible pocket clip (tip-up/ tip-down) enables to carry the knife in the desired position. The inlay is made of walnut wood, because of its outstanding features as shaft wood for rifle with a long tradition. Includes the original Tirpitz crest.
