This is what happens when you mix a smatchet with a hori hori and the iconic Tom Brown Tracker.

The Tracker Digger is one of those designs that is not "the norm", but meets a need that many people have. They wanted to challenge the traditional wisdom that says "you should never put your blade in the dirt." While that is almost always a good rule of thumb, sometimes having something the size of a knife that can do just that instead of a large shovel or flimsy garden tool, is just what is needed.
The Tracker Digger has a wide, thick blade for heft and strength. The handle is large enough to fit any hand comfortably, and it comes in a nylon sheath with a large front pouch for micro-survival kits, a sharpening system, or whatever else the user can dream up. From harvesting wild edibles in the forest, to making fire pits, to digging roots out of your garden, this knife is as versatile as the Tracker it was based on. It will be found in many camp kits, bug out bags, and tool sheds.
Disclaimer: The user should exercise caution using this in rocky soil. Using a blade in a manner similar to that of a shovel will dull it faster and rocks in the soil could chip or roll the blade edge, which is why so many recommend not using a knife in the soil.
