The Brakimo, created by Joe Flowers, was specifically designed to be a reliable backup tool or a versatile main camp knife. As the founder of Bushcraft Global, an immersive survival school in the Amazonian jungle, Joe is dedicated to teaching individuals of all skill levels essential survival skills that can be applied anywhere. With this vision in mind, he needed a flagship knife for his company and thus conceptualized the Brakimo.
Boasting a wide blade profile and TOPS' modified Scandi grind, the Brakimo excels in cutting and splitting tasks with remarkable efficiency. The slender tip allows for precise hole drilling, making it invaluable for activities such as creating bow-drill fires or fashioning blow gun mouthpieces and traps. Its simple yet practical design ensures versatility across various applications.
Crafted from 1095 high carbon steel, the Brakimo offers ease of maintenance even during extended periods in the field. In fact, our rigorous testing during the 2015 Bushcraft Global trip confirmed that by taking preventive measures to keep it dry whenever possible, rust became a non-issue.
The term "Brakimo" has its origins in the Matis language, which unfortunately lacks a written form. The Matis tribe, residing in Brazil, remained untouched by the modern world until the years 1975-1976. Their way of life is truly remarkable and would push even the most seasoned survival expert to their limits.
