The two brothers and alchemists Edward and Alphonse Elric made a fatal error when they were young: when the attempt at a strictly forbidden transmutation goes wrong, Edward loses a leg. But something worse happen to his brother. Edward can only save him by agreeing to an equivalent exchange which means sacrificing his arm to bind Alphonse’s soul in a suit or armor. Alphonse’s body however seems to be lost. Much too high a price for the two to have to pay for their recklessness. Therefore they resolve to try everything to get their old bodies back.
