The bascinet is derived from the cervelliere, which only covered the upper part of the skull.
Gradually the neck guard became more elongated; so that it finally covered the entire head and neck, save for the face. At first it was worn underneath a great helm, but especially horsemen came to rely solely on the bascinet for protection.
Or classic bascinet is made from carbon steel and lined with leather. A leather chinstrap fastens the helmet which weighs about 1650 g.
Suitable for a head circumference of max. 68 cm.
