Since he was born, the now 15 year old student Ichigo Kurosaki has been able to see spirits. One day he comes upon the Shinigami Rukia Kuchiki who is hunting a Hollow, an evil soul, and has been injured. Ichigo complies with her request to takes her sword and fight the Hollow when he himself transforms into a Shinigami. With no idea of the adventures that await him, he befriends Rukia and fights together with her until she is brought back to the Soul Society by her step-brother Byakuya Kuchiki to face disciplinary action. There Ichigo’s true journey begins and many obstacles must still be overcome.
Kisuke Urahara
Kisuke Urahara, or the Hat Man, as Ichigo calls him, is a onetime Shinigami commander and the owner of the Urahara Shop where, under the guise of being a candy store, he actually sells various Shinigami paraphernalia. He himself mostly remains in the background during battles, but always steps in if the severity of the situation calls for it. Kisuke is an unbelievably talented Shinagami with great strength and an unswerving research drive. He is one of the key characters in the series.
