They are using the DNA of Desmond Miles to find a powerful artefact. In order to do this, Desmond has to experience the memories of his ancestors and activate certain DNA-strings to reach them.
Desmond slips into the role of the experienced assassin “Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad“ who was degraded from the highest to the lowest rank after he failed in a mission. Now he has to successfully execute missions in order to return to his position in the Order of the Assassins. His enemies are the Templar who invaded the country as part of the crusades. Their aim is to conquer the Holy Land and find all artefacts of a long dead civilization.
