A well known leading expert on medieval swords comments that the original could be from as early as 1100 to as late as 1250. And we trust that he should know. The pommel, a faceted wheel, is a shape encountered in the Leppaho Viking swords, a group of swords excavated from Viking graves dating from 980-1000. The crossguard is of an early form, which the Vikings referred to as Gaddhjalt [spike hilt]. The blade is designed for the cutting style of fighting used during this period and has a fuller running 2/3 the length of the blade.

This version features:
A hardwood handle, wrapped in leather.
The cross guard and pommel are solid steel, polished and fitted onto a full tang that is peened at top of the pommel for strength and durability. And is how many of the originals were fitted.
The scabbard is made from wood then wrapped in leather with a solid steel end cap.

This sword comes with a sharp blade.

sehr schönes gelungenes Schwert mit gutem Griff und Schöner Klinge. die schwertscheide passt auch super dazu!

Schnörkellos, elegant und sauber verarbeitet - die Schärfe ist nicht optimal aber sonst ein gutes Produkt

Habe das Schwert gestern erhalten, gut verpackt und eingefettet. Ein schnörkelloses, schönes Schwert. Sehr gut verarbeitet, keine Macken oder Mängel. Könnte nochmal nachgeschärft werden, ansonsten nichts daran auszusetzen.

Ist ein sehr schönes, einfaches Schwert. Genau richtig für den Anfang einer Schwertsammlung.

Extremely sturdy assembly, rock solid, perfect fit in the scabbard. The leather used seems to be really durable. Seems a bit blade heavy at first, but after handling it for a while you get used to it. The handle is just a tad too thick and too short for two hand use, unless you squeeze your last two fingers against the pommel (consider that I have medium size hands), but i cannot say that these shortcomings make for an uncomfortable wielding. Overall the item is really well made, I am extremely satisfied with it.
