Product information "Colichemarde Sword"

The new Colichemarde Sword from Cold Steel with an overall length of approx. 101.6 cm. This sword is made from 1055 Carbon steel. A leather scabbard with steel fittings is within the scope of supply.

The Colichemarde emerged on the sword scene in the late 1600's during the decline of the Rapier and the rise of the small sword. Its long suit was its uniquely shaped blade that was extra wide at the forte then stepped down or narrowed for the rest of its length before ending in a wicked point. The advantage of this configuration was it allowed the sword to be used to parry or oppose even the heaviest weapons without breaking, yet remain light and supple enough to take full advantage of its lightning quick point.

Cold Steels´s president Lynn C. Thompson has long been an admirer of the Colichemarde due to its great versatility in attack or defense so we enlisted the aid of Dave Baker and made our own modern interpretation. True to form, the blade mirrors the original design concepts with an extra long and wide forte that abruptly tapers down to an acute and deadly point. The hilt features a decorative, yet highly functional, double shell guard, complete with finger loops and knuckle bow, while the grip is completely wire wrapped and capped with a matching pommel.

Schönes Schwert

Das Colichemarde-Schwert ist ein "Zwischending" von Rapier und Smallsword/Degen. Das Gefäß ist typisch für ein Smallsword, ohne Glocke oder Bügel wie bei einem Rapier. Die Klinge ist in der ersten Hälfte breit und verschlankt sich dann in der zweiten Hälfte stark. Die gesamte Klinge ist geschärft - so gut es halt möglich ist bei der Klingenstärke. Dennoch ist das Schwert für den Stich optimiert. Der Schwerpunkt liegt im hinteren Bereich in Richtung Hand und ist dadurch sehr führig. Das Schwert macht sich sehr gut als Zierde an der Wand, ist aber durchaus funktional. Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Das ist definitiv das beste Schwert, das ich je von CS in der Hand hatte. Die perfekte Kombination aus Smallsword und Rapier! Perfekt ausbalanciert mit einer effektiven Spitze aber nicht nur als Stichwaffe zu verwenden auch Hiebe lassen sich dank der scharfen schneide führen. Klare Kaufempfehlung!
