This is a Thaitsuki sword and we believe in quality over quantity. Thaitsuki Nihonto swords are hand-made, fully functional, and "battle ready" katanas. They are best suited for practice in all sword arts, completion cutting, and collecting. The Japanese Katanas, hand-made by Thaitsuki Nihonto, are of the highest quality, traditionally made and perfected for over 400 years. Thaitsuki Nihonto has been producing Japanese swords for professional collectors and practitioners of Iaido, Iaijutsu, and Kenjutsu for over 400 years!

The blade of the Hoso Kumiage Katana is handmade and forged from special high carbon Japanese steel (DC53) making a strong, flexible blade with bo-hi (groove).

The tsuka (handle) is covered in same (ray skin) and the Tsuka Ito (handle wrap) is 100% Japanese black silk. The Koshirae (sword mounting/fittings) are handmade from 99% silver.

The Hoso Kumiage Katana is a fully functional Japanese katana and not a replica, it is considered a weapon and it is extremely sharp. This sword can easily sever a 17.78 cm thick bamboo with a single stroke. The Hoso Kumiage Katana can be completely disassembled for full maintenance.

This sword can also be made dull so that you can use it for practice, like in Iaido!

Was beim Hoso Kumiage Katana direkt auffällt sind die sehr schön verarbeiteten Montierungen wie Kashira, Mekugi, Fuchi, Tsuba und Habaki. Die Klinge hat eine sehr gleichmässige Krümmung und ist auch sehr schön geformt. Die Polierung ist sauber und lässt wenig zu wünschen übrig! Die Bo-Hi (Blutrinne) ist sauber, scheint aber nicht komplett eingeschmiedet worden zu sein. Auch die Details wie Koiguchi (Öffnung der Schwertscheide) und Kojiri (Saya-Abschluss) welche mit Silber Montierungen versehen sind, machen dass Schwert zu einem ansehlichen Stück. Die Sageo ist etwas lasch um die Saya gewickelt. Die Tsuka-Ito (Griffwicklung) ist aber sehr Straff und liegt angenehm in der Hand. Der Schwerpunkt liegt für meine persönlichen Begriffe etwas zu hoch. Denoch ist das Katana sehr gut ausbalanciert. Etwas Negativ ist dass die Habaki (Griffzwinge) sehr leicht unschöne Kratzer beim ziehen des Katanas aus der Scheide bekommt. Meine Klinge ist im Vergleich zu einem Paul Chen "Practical Fantasy Katana" nicht die Schärfste, genügt aber für Schnitttests. Zum usstellen ist es ein sehr schönes Stück. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!

Hi! Als ich das Schwert bekommen habe, fiel mir gleich die sehr schöne Form des Katanas auf. Die Montierungen sind sehr edel und perfekt verarbeitet. Die Griffwicklung ist schön straff gewickelt, und bietet beim Schnitttest optimales Handling. Die Klinge hat eine feine Politur und fantastische Schärfe. Besonders interessant ist die sehr lebhafte Hamon-Linie. Ich kann dieses Katana allen empfehlen, die ein gutes Schwert für Schnitttests suchen, oder es einfach auf dem Ständer präsentieren wollen. Bisher eines der formschönsten Schwerter die sich in meiner Sammlung befinden. Zum Schluss noch ein großes Lob an das Swords-and-more-Team für ihren hervorragenden Shop und ihre schnelle und sehr kompetente Beratung. Mit freundlichen Grüssen, Thomas Hauser

Das ist mein erstes handgeschmiedetes Katana. Die Klinge sieht schön verarbeitet aus, es ist gut ausbalanciert und liegt gut in der Hand.Für mich ein schönes Schwert.
