According to Ewart Oakeshott an identical one is shown on two early 14th century effigies in Germany. Hilt and size of these swords have been replicated. These swords were not made for boys or archers, but for knights and great nobles.

Das Schwert ist klein und handlich. Es ist nicht wirklich scharf, wie ein Küchenmesser etwa, aber äußerst robust. Ich zerhackte damit jede Menge Holz, ohne irgendwelche Folgeschäden und die Klinge sang dabei fast wie eine Stimmgabel!
