Product information "Norman Sword"

The new Norman Sword from Cold Steel with an overall length of approx. 96 cm is made from 1055 Carbon steel. A Steel Scabbard with Brass Fittings is within the scope of supply.

The Norman lust for battle and ravenous desire for land and treasure can, like their famous sword be undoubtedly traced to their Viking forefathers who wrenched their homeland in north-western France from the hands of Charles the Simple in the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte in 911 AD.

Never satisfied with their lot, it wasn't long before they once again took up their broad, double- edged swords and set sail across the English Channel to conquer Britain most famously, at the battle of Hastings in 1066 AD.

Now Cold Steel is pleased to offer you the battle ready version of this famous sword. Like the originals they have studied, and the trainers Cold Steel´s President Lynn C Thompson spars with, it offers a long wide blade with fully sharpened edges and a very useful point. To insure it's light enough to be easily wielded with one hand we have also added a single broad fuller in the center of the blade that serves to reduce weight, improve balance and add the stiffness needed to withstand heavy blows.

The hilt of the Norman Sword is also reminiscent of many surviving originals with upturned, spatulated quillions, leather-over-wood grip and a modified "cocked hat" pommel. This pommel shape was specially chosen because it allows more room for the hand, while counter balancing the blade and serving as a weapon in its own right.

Sehr gutes Schwert

Balancepunt is bei etwa 11cm, mit dem niedrigen Gewicht von etwa 1050g ergibt das ein echt gelungenes Schwert, relativ gut Führbar aber dennoch eine extrem beeindruckende Klingenpräsenz mit einer gut gemachten Klingengeometrie und damit ein sehr gutes Schwert für Scchnittests. Unter Umständen muss man aber noch etwas nachbessern bei der Schnittkante, aber gesamt eines der besten Einhandschwerter.

Bin davon begeistert. Die Qualität ist vom Preis her perfekt und die Klinge ist wirklich scharf.

Habe es heute erhalten. Einfach klasse . besticht durch prima aussehen, super handling , scharf und schnell, wunderbar ausbalanciert. Alle mal 5 Sterne wert. Auch der Versand hat sehr gut geklappt

Classified as type XIIIa by Oakeshott, the Two handed Templar stands as one of the most significant swords of the medieval period.
