The origin bascinet. Often called a cerveliere', this domade skullcap was often worn underneath a mail coif. It became increasingly common to wear it under the great helmet, or simply over the mail coif on its own. Made from two welded halves of 2mm (14 guage) steel, this helmet features a polished surface, adjustable spider style leather liner riveted to the helmet, and chinstrap fitted with a period buckle.
