Product information "Sgian Dubh"

A Scottish tradition, the original Sgian Dubhs were frequently worn under the shirt close to the armpit. Now it is traditional for the Sgian Dubh to be worn in the stocking of the Highlander, and the knife is frequently called a "stocking dirk". The term "Sgian Dubh" itself actually means black handled knife. Our Sgian Dubh which weighs less than 2 oz., has a black wooden handle that is carved on one side, smooth on the other. Embossed nickel silver fittings feature a thistle motif. Our Sgian Dubh comes with a sheath.

sehr schöne und dekorative Variante - sogar ein Schotte war überrascht - allerdings von der Version "geschärft"

Der Sgian Dubh von Windlass ist im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis die beste Alternative, wenn man einen ordentlich verarbeiteten, aber dennoch erschwinglichen Sgian Dubh möchte. Die meisten Billige-Versionen lassen am falschen Ende sparen, denn sie sind billig verarbeitet und somit reine Deko, von der Plastikmassenware ganz zu schweigen. Dabei sind sie im Verhältnis nicht soviel billiger, als der Sgian Dubh von Windlass. Lobenswert auch der Schleifservice von swords-and-more, die Klinge ist sehr scharf geschliffen, hier waren Könner am Werk. Service usw. ohnehin wie gewohnt top. Wer also den Sgian Dubh als Waffen und Taschenmesser und Deko tragen möchte, der ist mit diesem Stück gut beraten. Insebsondere, wenn man sich auch mit dem Sgian Dubh als historische Waffe mit Nahkampffunktion auseinandersetzt, ist das Windlass-Modell die beste Wahl bisher.

Das Sgian Dubh ist klein und praktisch, die klinge ist sehr robust und hält auch brachialer Beanspruchung stand. Da es so klein ist kann mann es leicht am Körper tragen (Strumpf, Hosenbund, usw.) Die Scheide weist kleine Mängel auf wie kratzer in Leder. Also ein echt guter Dolch der nicht nur klein und praktisch ist sonder auch noch schön anzusehen ist. ^^

Latha math. Das \"schwarze Messer\" ist super. Es hat eine schöne Form und liegt super in der Hand. Nur die Lieferung hat etwas länger gebraucht als sonst. Anmerkung von Swords and more : Die Lieferung hat 12 Tage gedauert für einen nicht lagernden handgeschmiedeten Dolch der aus den USA importiert wurde.

Klein aber Oho, so wie ein Sgian Dubh sein sollte! Ebenso lässt er sich wunderbar aus der Scheide ziehen, was ein tragen in den Stockings (Kniestrümpfe) ermöglicht!

Early Scottish Dirk

CIRCA 1550 A direct descendent of the medieval bollock dagger. The grip form began to change, probably sometime in the late 16th century, but soon developed a form that was purely Scottish. The blade was long and single-edged. Made to use alone, with a shield and sword, or just with a basket-hilt claymore. We have replicated an early version of the dirk. The hardwood handle is carved with a chevron like pattern copied from an original of the same time period. For those with a serious interest in the Highlands, this is a must for any collection. Our new improved Japanese Training Swords are closely modeled after our world-famous Warrior series swords. Featuring an intricately detailed imitation cord wrap grip - molded in high impact polypropylene - they offer superior grip and comfort as well as more realistic training potential for the modern Martial Artist. Hundreds of years ago, the Japanese discovered a simple truth; that to become a good swordsman you'll have to practice, a great deal. To become a great swordsman you’ll have to practice with a "live blade". And during the period between "good" and "great", you should spend your time building your skills and confidence enough to wield a razor sharp Katana safely and effectively. To accomplish this, the Japanese relied on a simple wooden sword called a "bokken" for much of their training. It was made from the super tough wood of the Japanese White Oak, a wood they called Kashi. Authentic Kashi wood Bokkens are still used today, but are becoming quite costly. They also have the disadvantages, being made of wood, that they may rot, crack split or splinter.
