Cutting tools of the Vikings commonly doubled as weapons of war when these famed raiders sailed on pillaging forays. Their axes were certainly top of the list and came to symbolize the terror spread among their foes. Varying greatly in size, from small throwing axes to the mighty Danish Axe, these were the most commonly used weapons of these Nordic warriors. Our Viking Axe is a typical pattern, capable of cleaving helms or armour with impunity.
Cold Steels Garden & Camp Machete is the interpretation of a much-used agricultural tool from Africa. Cold Steels President Lynn C Thompson has used them for many years, building blinds and hides and cutting grass when prepping shelters during his time hunting in Africa. He was impressed by their simple, utilitarian design and he soon realized that he always made sure there was at least one of these tools on hand before embarking on any prolonged hunting trip. It therefore made a lot of sense for him to begin exploring his own version of this African tool for an international audience.
Incredibly intuitive to use, the Garden & Camp Machete is a quick study in economy of motion. By slightly bending your knees and leisurely swinging the machete with a back and forth motion, you can make short work of many cutting tasks.
Use it to trim the grass and weeds from your garden, or as a lightweight and handy cutting tool to clear brush from camp sites, hunting blinds and shooting lanes. Use it as a probe in long grass to look for obstructions, obstacles or varmints. In a last ditch self-defense situation the Garden & Camp Machete is lighting fast, with exceptional reach and a formidable cutting edge that can strike from many different angles.
Its strong, sharp and long double edged blade is super lightweight and a breeze to carry and use all day. Throw it in the trunk of your car, hang it from the back door of your cabin, keep it near your tent when camping or lash it to your backpack. You’ll find you quickly can’t imagine leaving the house for an outdoor adventure without one!

The iconic walking stick has a much deserved place in history. After all, every culture has their own classic interpretation of the quintessential walking stick.
A good stout stick was an everyday accessory and tool. From the city gent to the hard-working farmer, every man had a stick!
These awesome tools were once incredibly commonplace, but sadly carrying a stick fell from popular fashion. We’ve long championed a revival of this practice and we’ve worked hard to try and encourage people to bring back this once-great tradition!
The walking stick is so much more than just an aid to stability for the injured, ill or infirm. As any hiker or outdoorsman will tell you, it’s also an excellent tool for traversing rough, slippery, uneven and treacherous terrain, a useful pointer or probe – and in dire straits it makes a capable self-defense option!
Cold Steel has earned great acclaim for our Walking Sticks. Our innovative and highly durable modern polymer products have been a huge success, and we’re proud to see a resurgence in the amount of people carrying and using sticks every day.
The Walkabout was a much loved classic from our earlier line up. A fan favorite that just begged to be re-released.
The latest incarnation of this popular design is made from tough, durable and highly impact resistant polypropylene. Unlike wood, our polymer is extremely weather resistant, and withstands inclement conditions that would cause a conventional sticks to crack, warp or rot.
Its handsome wood grain texture provides an excellent grip without sacrificing comfort or ease of use, and it’s simple one-piece polypropylene construction makes it deceptively tough while still remaining light enough to carry and use all day!
Good looking enough for daily use in the city, and tough enough for hiking, camping and outdoor pursuits, the Walkabout is a proud new addition to our beloved walking stick series. Get your today!
