Game of Thrones - Blackfyre Sword
Carried by Aegon the Conqueror when he first left Dragonstone for the Seven Kingdoms , Blackfyre was an ancestral sword of his house that became a symbol of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros.Aegon I carried it throughout his reign and used it in many battles, upon his death it was passed on to his heir and successor Aenys. However Aenys gifted it to his younger brother Maegor who was the better warrior and more suited to the blade. Many viewed this as a mistake that legitimized Maegor’s later usurpation of the throne. The sword continued to be used and carried by the Targaryen kings for generations, in peace and in war. Until 182 AC when Aegon IV gifted Blackfyre to his bastard son Daemon, instead of his more scholarly legitimate heir. Daemon took on the name Blackfyre, after his father’s blade, and formed House Blackfyre. The waters of succession were further muddied when Aegon IV legitimized Daemon Blackfyre on his deathbed. The final result was The Blackfyre Rebellion in 196 AC.The rebellion proved unsuccessful and Daemon was slain, riddled with arrows from archers under the command of Lord Brynden Rivers, himself another bastard of Aegon IV who stayed loyal to the crown. Daemon Blackfyre’s half brother, Aegor “Bittersteel” Rivers, a bastard who had joined with the rebels took up Blackfyre and fled with it across the Narrow Sea to the Free Cities where the sword was lost to history.IMPORTANT, READ THIS: This is the exclusive officially licensed Blackfyre from "A Song of Ice and Fire." Sword - Hadhafang
Arwen's sword is called Hadhafang which means Throng-cleaver. It once belonged to the Elven princess Idril, who wed a mortal man and bore Earendil, the father of Elrond who in turn was father to Arwen. Before Arwen's birth Elrond wielded Hadhafang at the end of the second age of Middle-Earth, during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in the great battle against Sauron. Later his daughter Arwen used Hadhafang when she aided Frodo in his escape from the Ringwraiths. Inscribed on the blade are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say "aen estar Hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen." Which translates to "this blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady." The original inscription included the last line "Idril i hel en aran Gond dolen," which translates to "Idril, daughter of the king of the Hidden Rock (Gondolin)." It was dropped from the finished prop due to a lack of space. There is an intentional pun in the inscription - the Sindarin translation of "noble lady" is "Arwen", so in effect, the blade claims to be for Arwen, even though it was made for her grandmother. Includes a parchment certificate of authenticity. Overall Length: 96.84 cm Blade Length: 76.2 cm Blade Thickness: 0.64 cm Blade Material: Tempered 420 J2 stainless steel, false-edged. Hand Grip: Wood handgrip adorned with an Elven vine design, solid metal pommel, rat-tail tang construction. Display: 30.32 cm x 10.16 cm x 10.95 cm wood, silkscreened Elven design. Weight: 2.72 kg This sword is an official item produced by United Cutlery under the licence of New Line Cinema!
