The Iai-Do sport is dealing with the Art of sword pulling and the determined tackle technique (Katas), indeed as a formal exercise. Usually the Iaito, a blunt Exercise sword is used. The development of an unit of body, mind and sword (Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi) is in the foreground. The ultimate masters degree is achieved when people are able to control every situation of combat even without pulling the sword. The name Kei-Ben stands for the simple and practical sword design.

The blade is made of hand-forged stainless steel, blunt and with fuller (Bo-Hi). The hilt (Tsuka) is made of wood and rayskin-covered (Same). The swine of the hilt (Tsuka-Ito) is traditional made of cotton. The tsuba made of a zinc-aluminium cast shows a flower motive. On the hilt are two Menukis in form of a Mitsudomoe inserted. The scabbard (Saya) is made of wood and the blade ferrule is brass. Manufactured from museums pattern, with certificate and seal to guarantee the genuineness.

Ich habe das Schwert jetzt fast 3 Wochen und bin absolut begeistert! Die Qualität in Punkto Verarbeitung ist deutlich besser als ich für das Geld erwartet habe, es wackelt nichts, es klappert nichts (was ich bei anderen Iaitos schon gehört habe), die Tsuka Ito sitzt schön fest, ist dabei allerdings angenehm weich. Die Gestaltung des Schwertes ist sehr schlicht gehalten, was mir persönlich sehr gut gefällt, besonders mit der durchbrochenen Tsuba. Zur Handhabung sollte man anmerken, da es aus rostfreiem Stahl ist und nicht wie viele andere Iaitos aus Aluminium, ist es natürlich schwerer. Ich schätze, das es etwa ein Drittel schwerer ist als ein gleichlanges Iaito aus Aluminium. Durch das etwas längere Heft lässt sich das Iaito perfekt führen und liegt hervorragend in der Hand. Zu dem Preis ein klasse Schwert.

Ich hab mir das John Lee Kei Ben Iaito als Anfängerschwert für´s Toho Iai gekauft. Abgesehn davon das man die Tuska-Gashira fester machen sollte und die Saya etwas Spiel hat, ist das Iaito absolut in Ordnung. Trotz des geringen Preis kann man dieses Schwert bedenkenlos kaufen. Es überzeugt durch seinen schlichte Linie, selbst mein Sensei will immer mein Iaito zerlegen um an meine Tsuba zu kommen. Viel Spaß damit
