Product information "Scottish Sgian Dubh"

The Sgian Dubh (pronounced "skee(a)n doo", is a ceremonial dagger (Gaelic sgian) worn as part of the modern Scottish Highland dress along with the kilt. It is worn tucked into the hose with only the pommel visible. The name comes from the Gaelic meaning "black knife", where "black" may refer to the usual colour of the handle of the knife. It is also suggested that "black" means secret, or hidden, as in the word blackmail. This is based on the stories and theories surrounding the knife's origin and the meaning of "Dubh" in Gaelic.

Now Generation 2 has made one that is simple in design and fits perfectly in your hose (or sock). The handle is made from an Iron Wood and features a tempered blade with a full tang peened at the top of the handle. A wood sheath wrapped in leather is included.

Sauspitz der kleine, leider nicht scharf aber so ganz nett. Für den Preis kann man nichts falsch machen. Weiter empfehlen.!!

Pro: - gute Verarbeitung und optisch ansprechend (kein Plastik, alles Holz und Messing) - durch Größe gut als Neck-Knife nutzbar (stört nicht beim Tragen) - Liegt eng in Hosentasche (oder Strumpf) an durch abgeflachte Unterseite - Griff vernietet - sehr spitze Klinge Contra: - nicht besonders scharf und wohl auch schwer zu schärfen (halbkreisförmige Klinge) - zu klein für sehr große Hände Alles in allem ein nettes kleines Messer mit eingeschränktem Nutzwert, dafür recht preiswert.

Für den Preis keine schlechte Sache, leider nicht sehr scharf, für mich mehr Deko als Gebrauchsgegenstand!

Der Sgian Dubh von Gen2 ist im Design mal was ganz anderes. Sehr spitz, die Schärfe eher mittel, liegt aber gut in der Hand und ist sauber verarbeitet. Für den günstigen Preis hebt er sich sehr positiv ab im Gegensatz zu vielen Bilig-Strumpfdolchen mit Plastikteilen etc. Schlicht, aber schön sieht man gleich ein Gebrauchsmesser, dass nicht nur repräsentativen Zwecken dient. Dabei ist er robust verarbeitet, so dass man ihn gut als Alltagsmesser gebrauchen kann auf Wandereungen usw. Für Schnitzarbeit muss man jedoch nachschleifen, die angepriesene Schärfe ist wie schon erwähnt nur mittel, daher ein Punkt Abzug. Ansonsten ein Top-Produkt und wie immer guter Service.
