In Third Age of Middle-earth, Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves came upon a troll lair in Rhûdaur. There Thorin found an ancient Elven sword named Orcrist, forged by the high Elves of the West, in Gondolin. Thorin claimed Orcrist for his own and vowed to cleave Goblins with it once again. He wielded the sword through most of the Quest for Erebor, using it against the Goblins of the Misty Mountains. The Goblins called it “Biter” and hated and feared it. The blade of Orcrist features a curved leaf shape on one side, and a straight edge on the other, a fitting design for a blade meant to cleave Orcs and Goblins. Adorning the pommel is an emblem of the heraldry of Ecthelion of the Fountain. The hilt is shaped from the tooth of a dragon. It is unknown if the tooth was acquired prior to the fifth battle of the First Age, or added to the sword with the inscription in the millennia after the Fall of Gondolin, most likely by the Dwarves of the North. Inscriptions on the sword in Elven runes: On the guard is the name Orcrist “Goblin-cleaver”. Blade Inscription (both sides): “The serpent’s tooth”. The Horn of Gondor was an heirloom of the Stewards of Gondor, fashioned by Vorondil from a horn of the Kine of Araw, and passed to his descendants until its destruction at the death of Boromir. Tipped with silver and inscribed with ancient characters, it was said to be audible at any place in Gondor when winded.The wall mount and horn are made of resin, there is a leather strap included to hang the horn from the wall mount. His trademark though was the thunder that announced his arrival when he used his goat carried chariot. There are many legends about his heroic deeds like his first fight against the Midgard Serpent, his feud with the ice giants or how he and Loki used a trick to get his stolen hammer Mjölnir back from Trym, the giant.Like all Aesir Thor found his end during the Ragnarök, the Fate of The Gods. He fought against the Midgard Serpent and won but then he fell into its venom which eventually killed him. Boromir´s sword was single-handed, big, broad and powerful - a fit complimentary to its owner. To use it required someone with great strength, which this skilled warrior abundantly possessed. The blade´s flattened diamond shape and equally wide fuller reduced weight, yet retained strength in the end of the blade by stopping just short of the tip. It was equally effective for slashing against lightly armored opponents and for thrusting into more heavily protected enemies. The guard, similar to that of his father´s sword, showed a warrior´s flourish in that it was formed from a square-edged piece of steel that had been twisted before being curved into a crescent. The handgrip was wide like the blade, and the pommel was an elegant and simple piece of steel that added weight to balance the blade.
