Anduril, the sword of King Elessar of Gondor from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, has been improved to be a more movie accurate replica of the hero props used in the popular film. This Museum Collection edition of Anduril features a 1060 high carbon steel blade with several improvements over our standard version of the sword that more accurately replicate the hero filming props. The surface polish is finer, the engraved blade runes are more accurately shaped and detailed, and the fuller grooves are now the correct length. Driven by a desire to arrange all things according to his will, he became (Melkor) Morgoth's most trusted lieutenant and was considered his greatest servant in the Wars of Beleriand. The original helmet was designed by Weta Workshop and worn by actor Sala Baker. In the battle cutscene, Sauron is shown cutting down numerous Elves and Men with his mace before killing Gil-galad (off camera) and Elendil, until he is finally defeated by Isildur, who cuts off the Ring with his father's broken sword. This causes Sauron's body to explode, creating a shockwave as the original helmet falls to the ashy ground, smoking with the corruption of his hatred.

Arwen's sword is called Hadhafang which means Throng-cleaver. It once belonged to the Elven princess Idril, who wed a mortal man and bore Earendil, the father of Elrond who in turn was father to Arwen. Before Arwen's birth Elrond wielded Hadhafang at the end of the second age of Middle-Earth, during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in the great battle against Sauron. Later his daughter Arwen used Hadhafang when she aided Frodo in his escape from the Ringwraiths. Inscribed on the blade are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say "aen estar Hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen." Which translates to "this blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady." The original inscription included the last line "Idril i hel en aran Gond dolen," which translates to "Idril, daughter of the king of the Hidden Rock (Gondolin)." It was dropped from the finished prop due to a lack of space. There is an intentional pun in the inscription - the Sindarin translation of "noble lady" is "Arwen", so in effect, the blade claims to be for Arwen, even though it was made for her grandmother.
