Product information "Gim Sword"

There are two basic types of straight bladed swords used in China. One is fairly long and heavy known as the Wu Jian or "Martial Sword". The other is substantially lighter and called a Wen Jian or "Scholar´s Sword" and was primarily carried for personal self defense. After studying books and video tapes on the history and use of both weapons, we have decided to make our own battle worthy Gim (Wu Jian) for serious collectors and practitioners of Chinese Martial Arts. The blade of our Wu Jian is made out of 1055 Spring Steel and measures 76.2 cm long by 3.18 cm wide. For cutting and slashing, both edges are quite sharp and they terminate in a strong, useful point for stabbing. The traditionally styled guard and pommel are cast out of thick sturdy brass and fit snugly on a stout Rosewood handle that is both highly decorative as well as functional.

The Gim Sword comes with an excellent wood scabbard with brass throat, chape and sword rings and can be worn suspended from the belt or slung over the shoulder.

Gute Balance, super Materialien, vollkommen zerlegbar durch Mutter am Ende des Knaufs. Scharf! Einziges Manko ist die nicht gleichmäßige Qualität der Oberflächenbearbeitung der Scheide, was sicher mit etwas polieren/wachsen schnell ausgeglichen ist, kein Grund zur Reklamation. In der Preisklasse wohl eine der wenigen wirklich schnitttesttauglichen chinesischen Klingen.

Ich habe dieses Schwert gesehen und musste es haben. Die Lieferzeit war etwas lang aber da es erst von Cold Steel bestellt werden musste zu verschmerzen. Die Messingelemente sind sehr schön verarbeitet, die Klinge ist die gerade Verlängerung des Arms und gut ausbalanciert. Die mitgelieferte Holzscheide ist ebenfalls schön verziert allerdings sitzen 2 der Messingteile etwas locker (mit etwas Eigenarbeit ist das aber schnell behoben). In der Handhabung hat mich das Gim Schwert überrascht. Es lässt sich in den verschiedensten Formen und Geschwindigkeit sicher führen und liegt stets gut in der Hand. Der Schleifservice hat etwas enttäuscht, die Klinge ist allenfalls mäßig scharf und für einen ernsthaften Schnittest noch ungeeignet. (deshalb nur 4 von 5) Zusammengenommen eine sehr schöne Arbeit, zu einem guten Preis.

This mat is made from rice straw and can be used for the traditional japanese cutting test tameshigiri. The mat has a dimension of 180*90 cm. This mat comes single packed in a foil together with a pad of silicon so that the mat wont catch any water during transport or storage. The end of the mat is tied together by some wire which you have to cut of before starting to cut with your blade. This tatami omote is the basic quality.
