The iconic walking stick has a much deserved place in history. After all, every culture has their own classic interpretation of the quintessential walking stick.

A good stout stick was an everyday accessory and tool. From the city gent to the hard-working farmer, every man had a stick!

These awesome tools were once incredibly commonplace, but sadly carrying a stick fell from popular fashion. We’ve long championed a revival of this practice and we’ve worked hard to try and encourage people to bring back this once-great tradition!

The walking stick is so much more than just an aid to stability for the injured, ill or infirm. As any hiker or outdoorsman will tell you, it’s also an excellent tool for traversing rough, slippery, uneven and treacherous terrain, a useful pointer or probe – and in dire straits it makes a capable self-defense option!

Cold Steel has earned great acclaim for our Walking Sticks. Our innovative and highly durable modern polymer products have been a huge success, and we’re proud to see a resurgence in the amount of people carrying and using sticks every day.

The Walkabout was a much loved classic from our earlier line up. A fan favorite that just begged to be re-released.

The latest incarnation of this popular design is made from tough, durable and highly impact resistant polypropylene. Unlike wood, our polymer is extremely weather resistant, and withstands inclement conditions that would cause a conventional sticks to crack, warp or rot.

Its handsome wood grain texture provides an excellent grip without sacrificing comfort or ease of use, and it’s simple one-piece polypropylene construction makes it deceptively tough while still remaining light enough to carry and use all day!

unbedingt Gummipuffer für die Spitze anbringen, sonst ist er rutschig, aber dann wesentlich handlicher als z.B. der Blackthorn-Walking-Stik, ist aber mindestens genauso haltbar. Gesamtbewertung: TipTop, elegant und trotzdem zuverlässig

Ich hatte mir zuerst den Cold Steel African Walking Stick bestellt, der sich im Nachhinein aufgrund des überdimensionierten Knaufgriffs als zu unergonomisch erwies. Der Cold Steel Walkabout korrigiert dieses Problem durch seinen deutlich griffigeren Knauf, womit auch bei längerem Gehen keine Ermüdungserscheinungen in den Händen auftreten. Zudem ist der Stock exzellent ausbalanciert: obwohl er laut Herstellerangabe mehr wiegt als der African Walking Stick, wirkt er gefühlt merklich leichter. Wer den Walkabout jedoch ernsthaft als Gehhilfe einsetzen möchte, sollte zusätzlich die Anschaffung einer stabilen Gummi-Stockkapsel mit 24-25 mm Durchmesser einplanen - diese gibts für ein paar Euro im (Online-)Sanitätshaus.
