Extrema Ratio Misericordia Ranger XXV Anniversarium is a limited edition of only 400 pieces. It features all the characteristics of the famous Misericordia adopted by the 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment, which contributed to its development and testing, and chose it for its unique characteristics that make it particularly suited for ambush combat.

Misericordia Ranger XXV Anniversarium joins the limited series that Extrema Ratio has created to mark the end of the twenty-fifth year of activity.

The blade is milled out of Böhler N690 steel, heat treated to 58 HRC for best combination between edge retention and toughness. It is 118 mm (4.65”) long and 4 mm (0.16”) thick with a flat grind. The knife weighs just 87 g (3.1 oz). The blade features a spear-point shape with a full length fuller, which makes it even lighter, and has a false double edge to 3/4 of its length. Its finishing is made with Geotech Camo, the innovative and original laser-engraved pattern by Extrema Ratio.

The grip maintains the typical ergonomic Extrema Ratio profile and is made in glass reinforced nylon to offer maximum toughness under all circumstances, even in the harshest use. The characteristic ring on the pommel helps the soldier get a better grip for a safer and more effective thrust, enhancing exponentially the combat effectiveness of the Misericordia.

Misericordia Ranger XXV Anniversarium Limited Edition comes with 2 sheaths, both in desert colour: the first, made of kydex, can be attached to a belt clip, Ulticlip and malice clip (optional accessories are sold separately). It is also possible to attach it to the M.O.L.L.E. system webbing by means of a paracord. The second, made of high-resistance Nylon, is equipped with 2 adjustable loops that allow it to be attached to the M.O.L.L.E. system.

Misericordia Ranger XXV Anniversarium Limited Edition is delivered in a weather, dust and shock resistant polypropylene IP67 certified waterproof case with pressurization valve; this includes the kydex and nylon sheaths, a commemorative coin of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Extrema Ratio and a metal plate bearing the progressive number within the limited series.

RAO Desert Warfare

In June 2006, the “185° Rgt. Ricognizione ed Acquisizione Obiettivi” (Target Acquisition Regiment) airborne “FOLGORE” (185° RAO) commissioned to EXTREMA RATIO the developing of a special knife based on specifications concerning their special duties. The 185° RAO is the only unit in the Italian Armed Forces in charge of long range recons and to acquire several kinds of targets to be engaged with artillery, helicopters, aircraft and battleship suppression fire, across all possible theatres. This very delicate and dangerous duty is operated by detachments capable to penetrate, operate and survive in hostile surroundings thanks to two years of very hard training. The motto of this special operation regiment is: “Videre nec videri”, from Latin: “See without being seen”. The result is a survival knife RAO. It is not a big folder, but a compact field knife with a strong and heavy blade and a very safe locking system, assisted by an extra safe device to turn the folder in a real fix blade knife. Opening and closing of the blade is done with both hands to minimize the risk of self injuries. The extra safe device is a steel pin to be hand screwed through two holes placed by the guard zone of the massive anticorodal aluminium alloy handle. This device is necessary because of the violent chopping performances of this uncommon folder. Because of its weight, the blade is a real guillotine. That is why the presence of this steel pin between the blade and the user hands is a great psychological assistance for strong and quick chops. The sheath is an essential part of the system. It contains a diamond sharpener and allows the user to carry the knife in open condition, held with two clips or in closed condition inside the front pocket.
