In South Africa, an inexpensive ring lock folder is sold everywhere. It´s a good design, but it´s constructed from sub-standard materials, is poorly made, and is horribly overpriced. And yet, millions of these knives are sold there each year. Well, we thought we could do better, in the quality of materials, cutting performance, and in price. The Cold Steel Kudu, takes some cues from its South African competition, but our version is vastly superior. Ours has a 5Cr15MoV Stainless steel flat ground blade, heat treated to Rc 56-57 for better edge holding ability and ease of re-sharpening, and a thin razor sharp edge. For safety, we have thoroughly tested the locking mechanism and are well satisfied it will hold the blade rigidly open until you decide to close it by pulling up on the ring attached to the back spring. The handle of the Kudu also reflects our dedication to making an effective and affordable folder. It´s made of 43% glass reinforced Zytel®. This material has proven to be extremely strong, and is stiff enough to compliment the blade and spring when locked open. Plus, the gripping surface has a wood grain texture for traction and features an attractive polished steel Kudu horn emblem for a little extra flair! We think the Kudu represents an unbelievable value. It´s ready for anything and makes a wonderful work knife, utility knife, bait knife, or hunting knife.

tradition ;)

scharf, leicht, stabil und es fliegt gut auf kurzen distanzen. als taschenmesser mit etwas übung für den verschluss, ist es ein gutes gebrauchsmesser!

Sehr, sehr scharf. Verschluss geht sehr streng und ist nicht empfehlenswert. Beides kombiniert ergibt ein hohes Verletzungsrisiko.

Tolles Messer, super verarbeitet, da wackelt oder klemmt nichts. Zusammengeklappt ist es groß genug um im Notfall als Palm-Stick zu dienen, und wenn man es kann läßt es sich auch zielgenau werfen. Der Verschluß ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, es lohnt sich die Tutorial-Videos anzusehen! Hab auf diese eise schon ien paar Freibier gewonnen ("Wetten du schaffst es nicht mein Messer zusammen zuklappen...")

Ein relativ großes, gutes, günstiges Taschenmesser mit hervorragender Feststellfunktion, guter Klinge und insgesamt schöner Verarbeitung. Das Griffmaterial gefällt mir nicht, da hätte Micarta eine bessewre Optik, aber dank der Verzierung und Rückenspange dennoch annehmbar sehenswert. Alltagstauglicher Allrounder mit eher mediterranem, als afrikanischem Look.

Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Große und sehr scharfe Klinge. Das Kudu ist ein Messer für leichte Arbeiten und nicht um damit Bäume zu fällen. Qualitativ ist das Kudu besser als alle vergleichbaren Messer in dieser Preislage

Nach den bereits sehr positiven Meinungen war ich durchaus negativ überrascht. Der Griff taugt überhaupt rein gar nichts, ist unangenehm zu fassen, der Ring störend. Die Klinge an und für sich ist für den Preis durchaus gut. Wenn man allerdings ein wenig mehr Geld ausgeben will, würde ich zu einem anderen Taschenmesser raten.

Ist seit der Gesetzesänderung mein ständiger Begleiter. Sehr gutes Preis - Leistungsverhältnis. Trotz der Größe sehr leicht. Einziger Nachteil ist die Gefahr das die Hand auf die Klinge abruscht. Habe zur Verbesserung einen Absatz in die Griffunterseite gefeilt.

Vom Stil her verwandt mit den mediterranen Klappmessern, wie dem spanischen Navaja oder dem französischen Laguiole. Macht beim Öffnen auch das typische Krackkrackkrack-Geräusch des Navaja, obwohl es einem Messer südafrikanischer Herkunft nachempfunden wurde. Schön leicht und elegant, aber mit einer fetten 10-cm Klinge. Messer dieser Art gibt es schon seit der Antike, auch mit derselben Verriegelung. Ein hübsches Taschenmesser, das nicht jeder hat. Qualitativ weit besser als das Original. Die Verriegelung ist anfangs etwas schwergängig, aber nach ein bißchen Übung kein Problem mehr.
