As much as Cold Steel loves the massive cutting and piercing power of big, fixed blade knives, there is no denying that wearing one in plain sight will often draw unwanted attention or comments. Conversely, small fixed blades like the Kyoto knives seem to go unnoticed or, if they do draw attention, they almost always get a “pass” because of their small size and innocuous appearance. Available in traditional and reinforced point blade styles, they offer astounding cutting and thrusting potential that belies their modest stature.

The robustly stout blades have wide, full tangs that run the full length of the handle. They are coupled with stainless steel guards and super high traction Kray-Ex handles that are stylized to mimic the traditional look of cord wrapped Japanese sword handles. The slim, comfortable sheath is versatile and will accept a bead chain lanyard, or a Cold Steel C-Clip, so it can be carried in a variety of ways.

Outdoorsman Lite

As a nod to the great success of the Pendleton Lite Hunter, Cold Steel has decided to make more economical versions of their popular Tanto and Outdoorsman knives. These resemble their more expensive versions in that they feature similar blades, guards, handles, and pommels. The only significant change was the use of slightly thinner 4116 Krupp Stainless Steel blades, and the implementation of less costly materials in the handles. The handles are made in two parts. They feature a Polypropylene guard, pommel, and core section, which totally envelopes the full tang. The core is then over-moulded in a deeply checkered Kraton for a non-slip grip that's impervious to the elements and is easily cleaned with soap and water. To carry your knives safely and conveniently in the field, a black Secure-Ex belt sheath is included, so it can be easily worn on the belt or tucked into your pack or tackle box. Spontoon Hawk

While most tomahawks are chopping tools there was a less popular alternative known as a spontoon hawk. Made with a blade expressly designed for piercing it was capable of delivering deep puncture wounds that were quite lethal. Often found with a sloping or diamond shaped point and sharpened on both sides the Spontoon hawk offered little to no utility value but was undeniable a fearsome and brutally effective weapon. Today modern made spontoon hawks are extremely rare (outside of the cheapest quality imports) so we decided to remedy the situation with our own models.
