Native Chief – Sprint Run

CPM-15V from Crucible Industries is a state-of-the-art particle metallurgy tool steel renowned for its extraordinary wear resistance. Its unique alloy composition contains almost 15% vanadium, resulting in an exceptionally high volume of vanadium carbides throughout its microstructure. In industrial applications, these properties make CPM-15V a viable alternative to solid carbide for producing intricate tool designs. In knife blades, they translate into phenomenal cutting performance and exceptional edge retention.

Spyderco proudly stands apart in the knife industry by featuring CPM-15V in select limited-edition Sprint Run models. In addition to showcasing this elite blade steel, these USA-made knives are further optimized using a specialized heat-treatment protocol developed by renowned custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. The process is carefully tuned to extract the maximum possible sharpness and edge retention from CPM-15V.

The knives in this family are further distinguished by scales made from brown peel-ply-textured G10, fiberglass-reinforced copolymer (FRCP), or fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). Shawn Houston's distinctive "Triple B" logo is also laser engraved on the reverse side of the blades.

Spyderco Sprint Run

Spyderco Sprint Runs are limited-edition production runs of models that are not part of Spyderco's standard product line. They may be unique versions of current knives or special expressions of discontinued designs.

Every Sprint Run is a unique, one-time-only production event. Once a particular model sells out, it will not be produced again in exactly the same configuration. This makes Sprint Run knives particularly appealing to Spyderco enthusiasts and collectors.
