Clove Oil (Tsubaki or Clove Oil) The oil protects the blade from rust by forming a thin protective barrier against humidity and moisture in the air. As the protective film gradually evaporates over time, it is recommended to reapply the oil at least once a month. Uchiko Powder Ball The Uchiko powder ball contains fine polishing powder. Wipe the Blade Clean Carefully wipe away all Uchiko powder using the microfiber cloth. Repeat the process if necessary until the blade is completely clean. 4. Apply Fresh Oil Apply a small amount of clove oil to the microfiber cloth and spread it evenly over both sides of the blade, working from the tip toward the handle. Only a very thin protective film should remain on the blade. 5. Regular Maintenance Every 3–4 months, it is recommended to disassemble the sword and clean the tang (Nakago) in the same manner before applying a light coat of oil.
