The dragonfly (Japanese: “tombo”) was considered to be an honorable symbol of the samurai. It symbolized the courage of the warrior and the attitude to never give up.

In Shintoism the insect represents the rice plant and is a harbinger of a profitable fall. The Japanese expressed their worship of this animal in numerous poems.

This sword is a highlight in many aspects. Especially the themed decorations, the differentially heat-treated shobo zukuri style blade and the sheath with kozuka (a small utility knife) turn this sword into something special.
