Product information "Bushido Nami Katana"

Handcrafted in a small town nestled in the Longquan mountains of China’s Zhejiang province, where the tradition of skilled swordmaking began over 2,000 years ago.

Every part of this sword is expertly crafted by highly skilled smiths using centuries-old methods. The blade is pattern welded, with most of the blade Rockwelling in the 40-45 HRC range and about 35 HRC at the guard. The simulated hamon is expertly applied by an artisan. Each blade is honed and must be able to cleanly cut through a sheet of paper before it leaves the factory.

The tsuba and pommel are decorated with Japanese water dragons, ancient symbols of good fortune and wealth. The tsuba, pommel and the fuchigashira (the collar next to the tsuba) are made of brass and given an aged finish. The grip is genuine Rayskin wrapped with cord.

The wood scabbard has a flat black finish flecked with a gold sand pattern.

Includes cotton storage bag.

Nishikigoi Katana

The Nishikigoi as well Koi named is a special cultivated from of the carp. Koi stands in Japan for courage, strength, endurance and wealth. The tsuba is decorated with koi motives and the menuki os also made as a koi. The katana has a hand forged blade made of carbon steel with a fine hamon and has been tempered traditionally. In addition, the steel of the blade has been folded 12 times, that means about 8000 layers have been created which give the sword a beautiful damascus pattern. The sharp blade features a hi (fuller) to reduce the total weight. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, has been coated with real fish skin and features two menukis. In addition, it has been traditionally wrapped in black cotton. The tang is especially long and fixed with one bamboo peg (mekugi). The scabbard (saya) is made of wood and the blade collar (habaki) is made of brass. The sword comes with a certificate of origin, wrapped in cloth and packed in a high-quality wooden box.
