The Practical Plus Katana from CAS Hanwei provides a very economical cutting sword as dependable as the Practical Katana, but using more traditional fittings and construction methods. The blade is forged and differentially hardened in the traditional claying method with a prominent hamon.
The Practical Plus katana features genuine same (rayskin) on the tsuka, with a tsuka-ito (wrap) specially developed for its gripping qualities. The long tang is double-pegged for security. The fittings of the Practical Plus Katana are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with dragon menuki and the handsome tsuba is of an iron “sunburst” design with a brass habaki.
Please note: the katana, wakizashi or tanto’s sageo (cord) on the saya (scabbard) may not be wrapped as pictured. Sageo color may vary.

Bokken ("wooden sword") is the Japanese term in kenjutsu for a katana shaped out of wood. Used to train samurai in feudal Japan, it is now used as a training weapon in various Japanese sword arts. Some other martial arts (and all pedants) call it a bokuto ("wooden sword").A suburito is a bokken designed for suburi. Suburi, literally "bare cutting", are solo cutting exercises. Suburito are thicker and heavier than normal bokken so that you have to develop either good technique, strong muscles or both to wield one. Their weight does however tend to make them poorly balanced, consequently they are not used for paired practise.Miyamoto Musashi was famed for his use of the bokken in actual combat.
