This thumbscrew is needed to attach the limb to an AR-6 Stinger II Survival that has been upgraded with the AR-6 Stinger II “quick-detach limbs” upgrade-kit.

For the AR-6 Stinger II Tactical or Compact you do not need this thumbscrew, as the magazine holds the limb in place.
