The usual way of carrying a sword was not to tie it to the belt or sling it onto the back with a special sheath - since the days of antiquity sword were fastened to a baldric.

This broad leather strap was slung across the shoulder, so that the weapon remained close at hand. Baldrics later developed into pistol or ammunition bandoliers.

Our baldric is an early variant made of black leather studded with rivets. Its simple shape makes it suitable for re-enacting different eras.

The loop can be adjusted to accommodate most sword sizes.
